Wishing You the Beauty and
Blessing of the Season
This is one of my favorite times of the year. A time when families come together and celebrate family old traditions and create new ones. This year, Aaron, Angel, Charlotte, Darryl, Ella, Liam, Mateo, Nikki, Oliver, Olivia, Scarlett, Sophia, Trip, and Valentina were welcomed to the Safe Haven for Newborns family. These 14 precious little ones today are getting ready to enjoy their first Christmas with their forever families and starting their own holiday traditions. It brings me such joy to have been able to be a part of their lives by helping their birth mothers feel supported and capable of making the decision that was right for her and newborn.

Despite the challenges of 2020, A Safe Haven for Newborns has been there for the expectant mother, offering her the support she needs at the time she needed it the most. From providing referrals to counseling, shelter, parenting, health-related issues, adoption, and confidentially placing the newborn at a safe haven location, our goal is to provide her with the information and resources she will need to make an informed decision that will be in the best interest of her unborn child and hers. All the services are provided at no charge to the expectant mother.

The year 2020 was not what any of us expected. A year filled with challenges and heartache. A year where “social distancing” became part of our everyday vocabulary and we no longer could see the bright, warm smiles of our friends and loved ones because we wore a mask. But one thing did remain the same, we can still see is the light and love in the eyes of our family and friends.

For Safe Haven for Newborns, it has been a tough year. As you all know, we had to postpone all of our fundraising events. Even experiencing this setback, we continued to be the lifeline for the expectant mother by providing her with the services and essentials she and her newborn needed. We assisted several new mothers who opted to keep their babies by providing them with baby items such as diapers, baby clothing and other baby-related items in addition to providing other needed services.
All this was possible because of our caring supporters — You. Because of your belief in what A Safe Haven for Newborns does and its mission, is that we were able to provide the services and meet the needs of these 14 newborns, their birth mothers, as well as the birth mothers who chose to keep their infants. Your generosity and support is the beating heart of The Gloria M. Silverio Foundation and to that I say — Thank You.

To date, 330 newborns have been given a chance for a future that their mothers and or fathers could not provide. We are so thankful for the great partnerships and collaborations with Hospitals, Fire/EMS and our network of organizations throughout the state; to our Board of Directors, Advisory Board, and Ambassadors.

A new year is just around the corner and with it a new beginning. Our plans are to hold our fundraising events — our golf tournament is scheduled for May and the gala for October. In addition, we are looking to add other exciting and innovative programs to raise awareness of our mission and continue to save infants from abandonment. Our mission at A Safe Haven for Newborns is life-saving and life-changing. We are dedicated to saving newborns from the ultimate in infant abuse — abandonment; and assisting pregnant women in their time of need/crisis. Two lives saved… And we will need your help.

My Christmas wish… may you enjoy a blessed holiday in the company of your loved ones. That 2021 bring an end to the pandemic and a return to normalcy; and good health and prosperity to all.

Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah,

Nick Silverio, Founder
