Soon we will have a house full of friends and family to celebrate Thanksgiving------I can't wait!!.

Meanwhile I plan to take three giant steps before we reach 2015.

Step ONE to is to be thankful for each season in turn.  This is my "paint like mad" season!   Fall is also the longest for my decorating details so by Thanksgiving I'm ready for cooling weather, (maybe not quite like this) and slowly changing the house to reflect the coming holidays.  For example the Nutcrackers I collected in Germany come out and march up and down the stairs.  (Maybe there is an idea for a new series!) Besides the squirrels are definitely concentrating on NUTS at fall time so I figure the nutcrackers make a fabulous segway between fall and Christmas while reflecting the nutty frenzy at the easel.

Step TWO, I name the blessings, such being able to spend my days painting pet portraits, sharing with students and planning for the holidays!  These are the tip of the iceberg....I'm also thankful for a supportive husband, my Mom, my brothers and their families, my church, neighborhood, small group, knitting friends, art friends...oooops, you get the idea!

Step THREE is people oriented.  Being an introvert I struggle with wanting to cocoon long before winter.  Concentrating on friends and family over all else is my goal for the next few weeks...finish the pet portraits I have promised, make time to visit, party and prepare the perfect gifts.
