VIRTUAL EVENT RECAP & GRATITUDE
All of the faces in the screenshots below helped us connect to celebrate LFHS. As always, it was great to hear from Dr. Holland and Mr. Simeck during our event and we appreciate them taking the time to speak with us. We are grateful to Jim Sullivan, Corey Holmer, Matt Jerina, Jimmy Juliano, Melissa Doucette, Carolyn Bielski, Jeff Summy, Kurt Schuessler and Michael Mizwicki for contributing to the grant recipients video we shared during the event. Thanks also to Ashleigh Malec for connecting us with Martha and Kay Clifford, the LFHS students who contributed a lovely musical performance which was appreciated by all who tuned in. Thank you to Emma Sands for drawing the winning raffle tickets. And last but not least, the event wouldn't have been nearly as much a treat for those who joined us without our speaker, T-Ann Pierce. We are tremendously grateful to her for joining us, sharing her insights and encouragement, and giving us a few laughs. If you missed it, you can click on the link below to see the video.

JOIN US FOR THIS YEAR'S VIRTUAL
PITCH NIGHT SHOWCASE ON MAY 29TH!

MAY 29, 2020
We will share more information
and LINKS in the weeks ahead.
INVESTORS WELCOME!!
Pitch Night is the culmination of the Business Incubator course at LFHS. At our Virtual Pitch Night Showcase those teams selected through the Academic Pitch judging process will have the opportunity to pitch their business plans to our community in hopes of sparking the interest of potential investors. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor for this year's event, please contact Dez Witte, Vice Chair of Development or Rich Chun , Vice Chair of Business Incubator.

MORE WAYS TO SUPPORT OUR COMMUNITY
LFHS 3-D PRINTING PPE PROJECT
Jordan Salus, District 115 and District 67 Chief Technology Officer, and LFHS staff members Corey Holmer, Matthew Wilen and Joseph Dudeck are utilizing the 3-D printers at LFHS to facilitate the production of PPE, primarily in the form of face shields, for those working in local hospitals and nursing homes. They reached out to the LFHS Foundation to see if we could help facilitate community support for their efforts. In 2006-7 the Foundation granted $20K toward 3-D printers, in 2011-12 we granted another $21K toward upgraded 3-D printers and this past February we did it again investing $26K in newer technology.

While we are not in the position to contribute any of the funds we raise for grants toward supplies for this effort, thanks to a vote of our board, we are able to provide our community with the opportunity to contribute to it. A spool of plastic material costs around $35 and can make approximately 35 shields. If you are interested in contributing to this effort, we have set up ITEM # 902 on our auction website at LFHS2020.givesmart.com as an Instant Buy Item which allows you to make donations toward this project in increments of $35. While you are there, you are welcome to also make a donation to the LFHS Foundation that will be used to provide future grants like the 3-D printers at LFHS. If you are interested in supporting this effort in a more significant way contact us at [email protected] .
SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES #WithYouLFLB
The LF/LB Chamber has launched a gift card program as a way that members of our community can support our local business community during these uncertain and challenging times. These businesses support us year in and year out in our efforts to raise funds used to award grants to LFHS each year. We value their support and hope that everyone will support them. You can participate at https://e.givesmart.com/events/h2R/ .
FOOD DRIVE THIS WEEK!

No need to get out of your car—simply pop open your trunk and our volunteers will take your donation from you. Would you rather make a donation from home? Use the link below.

NORTH CHICAGO
SCHOOL COMMUNITY IN NEED OF SUPPORT
In Lake County school districts are pairing up geographically to support each other. Just to the north of us, in North Chicago there are significant needs. The North Chicago Community Partners is dedicated to ensuring a high-quality education for every student in North Chicago by leveraging resources within and around the neighborhood. They are currently in desperate need of support for their community.
