Dear Friends & Supporters:

When Christine Odionu saw a local advertisement in 2019 promoting affordable day trips for seniors at WISE, she joined our senior center, The Club, right away.

There were so many local places she had never visited, and WISE offered an easy way to explore them without having to plan a thing. Even better, she could enjoy the outings alongside others her own age.

Christine soon became a frequent WISE “day-tripper,” forming friendships and finding a welcoming community that helped her feel connected, engaged, and at home.

Then came the pandemic.

During lockdown, Christine took daily walks to help her cope with the isolation, but she missed the connection she had found at WISE. So, when WISE reopened, Christine happily returned — grateful to reconnect with old friends and ready to welcome new ones.

But last year, Christine faced another devastating challenge: her condo in Pacific Palisades burned down.

The road ahead felt overwhelming. Yet once again, WISE was there. The community Christine had already found through The Club became an even greater refuge. She began taking classes, she joined WISE’s Fire Relief Support Group, and through our Care Management, received help securing basic necessities as she began putting her life back together.

Today, Christine is still on the road to recovery. But she is also giving back. She just started volunteering to help run Bingo at The Club, a favorite activity of hers, to bring the joy and connection she has experienced to others. And every month, Christine makes a gift to WISE — a powerful testament to how deeply she values the care, community, and support she has received.

That is the spirit of generosity that helps make our work possible. And we could not reach the many older adults we serve without yours! Your gift will ensure that we can continue to help older adults find purpose and dignity through the many stages of aging.

To that end, we’ve just launched the WISE Circle, our new monthly giving community – and we’d ask you to consider joining it. Your recurring support will help WISE plan ahead, respond quickly, and ensure older adults in our community have access to the care, connection, and support they need. Plus, you become part of a caring community that shows up month after month for older adults like Christine.

Thank you, as always, for standing with us. Whether you join the WISE Circle, make a one-time gift, or share our mission with others, your support means so much to the older adults, families, and caregivers we serve. We hope you'll join us in this exciting new chapter in whatever way feels right to you.

Warmly,

Molly Davies
