Dear Friends,
Summer Institute is one of my favorite times of the year at Gratz College. Coming up next week, it is a wonderfully immersive, on-campus educational experience. When I was a Summer Institute student myself, I relished the opportunity to meet face to face and interact in real time with fellow students and colleagues with whom I had studied online throughout the year. Today, I thank the Gratz College Board of Governors for hosting a dinner for Summer Institute participants, where board members will meet some of the extraordinary students on whose behalf they work so hard.
For the Insider, summer means providing our readers with our current list of summer reading suggestions, as well as a recipe for a light summer dish. In this issue, we also announce the launch of an exciting new Ph.D. program - the first of its kind - and offer up an original essay by Prof. Ruth Sandberg. Enjoy!
Shabbat shalom,
Rabbi Erin Hirsh
