It's a faculty-only face-off on Friday, November 7th during Professional Development. We will be honoring and exploring our Build Here, Build There relationship with the Hope Center in San Jose, Costa Rica. The Hope Center has been both a destination for NCS short term summer missions as well as a destination for Northwest Christian students looking to grow through 5 and 10 week summer missions internships.

Details:
- On Friday, November 7th, during Professional Development, we will be enjoying an eye-opening exploration of the sort of plight found in developing nations like Costa Rica. Following this event, we will hear directly from Lonnie from Hope Centers, and enjoy a lunch featuring Costa Rican empanadas!
- To accompany lunch, our competition will center around two categories: appetizers and desserts! Make either a tropical fruit-based appetizer or a tropical fruit-based desert.
- The fruits that are most native to Costa Rica are: Pineapple, Banana, Mango, Star Fruit, Passion Fruit, Papaya, and Dragon Fruit. Use at least one of these fruits in your appetizer or desert to qualify.
- There will be a $1000 top prize to the chef that prepares the best appetizer or dessert. Then, for second and third places, in both categories, we'll be awarding $500 for second places and $250 for third places. Winners will be announced via email that afternoon.
- Dishes should be kept separately cold or hot until they are brought to Room 101 in the Don Sanderson Gymnasium building no earlier than 8:00am and no later than 11:00am. Judging will take place between 11:00am and 11:30am. Lunch will begin at 11:30am.
- Contestants must provide their own service cutlery. The school will provide plates, plastic ware, and napkins.
