GREAT FUTURES GALA DAZZLES UNDER THE BIG TOP
"More than $600,000 raised to support kids & teens!"
|
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis (BGCSTL) presented an exciting 2022 Great Futures Gala to raise funds to support kids and teens. The carnival-themed gala is our largest event held under the Big Top at Grand Center, and it didn't disappoint. Guests enjoyed circus acts, stories of impact shared from BGCSTL teens, music provided by DJ Quinn & Retro Boogie, eclectic food stations, and so much more. More than 500 guests attended the gala hosted by KSDK Anchor Rene Knott, which raised a whopping $660,000!
Another highlight was the announcement of the 2023 Youth of Year, Zhariah Davis, O'Fallon Park member! The Youth of the Year award is the highest honor a Boys & Girls Club member can receive. The winner is awarded many perks, including the Michael & Wanda DeHaven $5,000 scholarship, a celebratory dinner courtesy of the Saint Louis Club, and a beautiful car, thanks to Frank Leta Honda! Youth of the Year is a signature national program that celebrates the recipient's contributions to their family, school, community, and their Boys & Girls Club.
Second, third, and fourth-place Youth of the Year winners were also announced by Tri Tec's Daryl Jones, who generously contributed $3,000 to each runner-up candidate. Congratulations to the following Club members:
- Mathews-Dickey Club member Lai Joen Williams, 2nd place winner, $2,500 scholarship
- O'Fallon Park Club member Lailah Green, 3rd place winner, $1000 scholarship
- Herbert Hoover Club member Nikell Smith, 4th place winner, $500 scholarship
Special thanks to our event Chairs, Jill & Ed Dowd, Melanie & Jim Bennett, and Lisa & Joe Bertain, for their hard work in making the event a tremendous success.
Plans are underway for 2023. Contact Anne Ramsey for 2023 sponsorship and ticket information here, or call 314-335-8014.

JIM BUTLER MEMORIAL GOLF CLASSIC
"G for Golf, G for Green, G for great times"
|
G for Green, G for Golf, and G for great times! We accomplished them all at the Jim Butler Memorial Golf Classic at Norwood Hills Country Club in June. The event, chaired by Dave Touchette, raised over $325,000 for Club kids, teens, and programs.
Another event highlight was the Jim Butler Sportsmanship Award which included a $500 scholarship presented to BGCSTL Herbert Hoover Club teens Kanani E and Kiari E. The Jim Butler Sportsmanship Award was established in honor of the namesake of the golf tournament as a testament to his dedication to the mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis and the children and families we serve.
Thanks to the generosity of the Butler/Sowers Family and Jim's friends throughout the area, his legacy will continue through this annual award to inspire and enable our youth to achieve their full potential!
