Community Partner Donates Food for Club Families
|
Thanks to the generosity of BGCA partner Instacart, summer camp families at our Northwest Academy of Law location received over $200 each worth of groceries. Instacart donated $25000 worth of food for all BGCSTL summer camps plus $5,000 to support general Club operations. Joining Dr. Flint Fowler at the food give-a-way was St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones. This summer, the City of St. Louis announced five youth programming sites for the summer, including this one at Northwest Academy, to keep youth safe and engaged while school is out of session. These neighborhood-based locations provide education and enrichment programming as well as wrap-around services for children and their families.

Scholarships Given to Honor Jim Butler
|
|
Thanks to everyone who participated in our Jim Butler's Charity Golf Classic! A special shout out to our event chair, Larry Parres, the golf committee, golfers, volunteers and all of our supporters! Because of you, we raised over $350,000 to support area youth! As part of this year’s event, the inaugural Jim Butler Sportsmanship Award was presented to two amazing Club members. The award was established to celebrate his devotion and service to the mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis. Thanks to the generosity of the Butler and Sowers families, and his friends, Jim’s legacy will live on through this scholarship program.
Congratulations to Raykell B. (Riverview Gardens Club) and Tyrell H. (Teen Center of Excellence) for being selected as this year’s recipients of the Jim Butler Sportsmanship Award. Each received a $500 scholarship!

American Ballet Theatre Visits BGCSTL
|
|
This summer, American Ballet Theatre (ABT) brought 20 acclaimed artists to St. Louis for two captivating performances as part of the company’s 8-city cross-country road trip, ABT Across America. These unique outdoor presentations were among the first live performances for ABT in over a year, and our Club families were able to attend at no cost. Through a partnership with COCA, ABT engaged members at our Herbert Hoover Club in master classes. The master class participants also received free dance wear and shoes! BGCSTL Brochures
There are three new resources available!
BGCSTL is committed to measuring how much our young people are achieving and how effectively our Club Experience is implemented. Our outcome measurement strategies are designed to ensure we are delivering high-quality programming and services, implementing continuous quality improvement processes, and demonstrating their positive impact to stakeholders. The report also provides details on how we pivoted as an organization to serve youth and families in the face of the COVID pandemic. BGCSTL is proud to present its 2020 Outcomes Report, which summarizes our impact on the youth we serve. Click here to view the report.
With the addition of new Clubs and additional services, we’ve updated our core organization brochure which gives an overview of who we are, the services we provide, our locations, and opportunities to get involved. Click here to view our Organization Brochure.
The 2020 Annual Report provides organizational highlights and updates, as well as recognizes those donors and friends who helped make the year a success. This year the report will be digital only and can be found here.

SLIP Interns Working
Sixty-six interns participating in the St. Louis Internship Program have reached the halfway point of their summer work experiences as they continue to put into practice the skills and abilities they have learned. Participants are working in full-time internships throughout Metropolitan St. Louis (including a few at BGCSTL) in industries such as accounting/consultancy, social services, information technology and law. At the same time these young people are expanding their networks and continuing to hone their professional and technical skills. Nine members are participating in a virtual healthcare internship, four in Cybersecurity sessions and twenty-six enrolled in the “Pre-Internship Component” where they completed S.U.I.T.S. (Students Using Intellect to Soar) Summer Institute which includes a two-week experience with Maryville University.
