We cannot wait to celebrate the first day of school.

You will receive the Great Happens Here newsletter in your inbox once a week for two more weeks, when we will re-evaluate whether to maintain weekly updates or shift to every two weeks. Your time is valuable, and you are receiving a lot of information right now; we are working hard to strike a communication balance, so families receive timely, accurate information but not so much so that they’re inundated.

Our staff and teachers have been waiting for next week, excited to get to know your children. They want to teach, nurture and support them all – however support looks for every child, every day.
For at least the next seven weeks, your students are learning remotely. Many of them have experience with this after schools closed this spring, while others will next week experience their first day of school – ever. Here’s what to expect
with remote education 
Remote education will take place in PSD through at least Oct. 16. Schools will follow district-level expectations for remote education so families, students and staff alike have a shared understanding of how they will work together this year. Learn more on the Remote Learning: What to Expect web page >>

Laptop distribution to students for remote education

PSD IT Department launches student, family tech support site  

We are excited to announce PSD’s IT Department launched the PSD Community Tech Portal! The Tech Portal can be accessed at techportal.psdschools.org where families and students can find device troubleshooting and application technical support information, how-to guides, a calendar with important upcoming dates related to PSD technology and more. Using the ParentVUE, StudentVUE portals 

The Synergy ParentVUE portal gives parents and guardians web and mobile access to forms, assessments, report cards and class schedules. For help with access, refer to Accessing and Activating a ParentVUE Account", ParentVUE Frequently Asked Questions or contact your school.
UCHealth generously donates masks, gloves to PSD
Poudre School District is incredibly thankful to long-time community partner UCHealth for the organization’s recent donation of personal protective equipment, including pallets stacked high with boxes of face coverings and gloves. UCHealth generously gifted the school district 9,120 N95 masks, about 20,000 KN95 masks and 40,600 gloves, which will be used by PSD staff during the COVID-19 pandemic. Read more >>
Where PSD students can get
meals during remote education 

PSD will provide sack breakfasts and lunches for any enrolled PSD students Monday-Friday starting Aug. 24 at 18 schools and more than 60 mobile-serving locations across the district. Students who qualify for free and reduced-price lunch will receive either meal at no cost; paying students will be charged the normal breakfast and lunch cost to their meal account. Free and reduced-price meals and fee waivers  

 If your child is eligible for free or reduced-price meals in PSD, you may also be able to take advantage of another fantastic benefit: waivers from some school fees and charges. Fill out the free and reduced-price meal online application >>  You must also fill out the Permission to Share form each year. More info about fee waivers >>

Question: With the remote learning start, do I need to buy my student’s school supplies? Is there a different list?

Answer: Yes, students will still need some supplies to support their remote learning. Following the shift to remote education, school teams will review their school lists and may make adjustments. Schools will communicate school supply list information directly with families before the start of school. 
Supply Our Students drive accepting monetary donations this year
Due to the challenges of COVID-19, the PSD Partnership & Volunteer Office is asking those who would like to contribute to the Supply Our Students drive do so through monetary donations in lieu of actual supplies this year. Donations will be used to provide school supplies to students and may be used to help provide WiFi to families in need to help them access online learning from home. Contribute today >>
A huge thank you to Colorado State University’s School is Cool and the OtterCares’ Pack to School programs, which have worked closely with the PSD Language, Culture and Equity Department to deliver filled backpacks directly to schools. Through these amazing partners, more than 4,000 families have been provided with filled backpacks to support students in both remote and in-person learning.
2016 bond construction update
Thanks to voter support, PSD is building three new schools, a transportation maintenance facility and district athletics complex; completing $40 million in improvements to all schools; and completed an addition at Zach Elementary. Early Childhood Education accepting preschool applications 
PSD’s preschool program still has open spaces for the 2020-21 school year. More families may qualify now than ever before. To learn more and begin your application online, visit the Early Childhood Education web page or call 970-490-3204. 
Review the PSD Student Rights and Code of Conduct  
Each year, parents/guardians and secondary students must acknowledge that they have reviewed the Student Rights and Code of Conduct, a compilation of rules, policies and regulations regarding student behavior. Parents/guardians will be asked to acknowledge they have reviewed the Student Rights and Code of Conduct when they log into the ParentVUE parent portal, and students in grades 6-12 will be asked to do the same when logging into StudentVUE for the first time this school year.
