Attention Media Folks!
This 31st Annual Harvest Moon Regatta will start in front of Galveston's Pleasure Pier Thursday, Oct. 5 with multiple starts beginning at 2 p.m.
Photographers are encouraged to head down to Pleasure Pier or get on a boat or a helicopter to capture all the colorful spinnaker sails opening up as the vessels get underway at the start of the race.
We anticipate approximately 100 sailboats to set off on an overnight triangular course that will have them finishing up back in Galveston on Friday.
Since Port Aransas Marina, where the race usually finishes, sustained significant damage as a result of Hurricane Harvey, race officials charted a new course, and the post-race festivities will be held at Lakewood Yacht Club in Seabrook on Saturday, Oct. 7.
This year's HMR regatta is being held in conjunction with the
Hurricane Harvey / HMR Port Aransas Recovery Fund
to provide much-needed assistance to our friends in Port Aransas.
