A Word From Nelson
Sometimes the difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little bit of "extra." Great Southeast Flooring America is committed to providing that additional margin of effort so you can enjoy world-class customer service. That's also our philosophy when it comes to giving back to our community. Whether it’s taking the extra time to use a floor-leveling system that ensures perfect tile installation, or giving a little extra to sponsor such local charities as Rockledge Rotary Club’s Derby Day, you can count on us to go the extra mile.

Come to Derby Day!

The Rockledge Rotary Club has been hosting  Derby Day for more than a decade. The annual event brings together Space Coast businesses, community leaders, and individuals to raise funds for Brevard County's charitable organizations.

Come and support this wonderful event from 2 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, at the Wickham Park Equestrian Center. The day’s activities include horse races, live and silent auctions, dinner provided by Carrabba’s Italian Grill (included in the cost of admission), a derby hat contest, live streaming of the Kentucky Derby, and much more. A majority of the proceeds from this year’s Derby Day will go to Crosswinds Youth Services, the Ronald McDonald House, and Hidden Acres Rescue for Thoroughbreds (HART).

Derby Day is open to the public. But seating is limited, so get your tickets early! Cost of admission is $75/person and tickets can be purchased at here

On the Level

People love wood-look tile. With today’s digital imaging technology, these products look and feel like the real thing. Plus, they provide homeowners with the best of both worlds: the rich look of hardwood flooring with tile's ease of maintenance.

But installation is not for the do-it-yourselfer. Tile is rarely perfectly flat. In the case of smaller, traditional square tiles, it doesn’t matter as much. But when you are making a longer, narrower wood-look tile (which is a hot trend with consumers right now), the heat of the manufacturing process can make the center higher than the four edges. The result can be a “ledge” that you can see and feel after your flooring has been installed.

To prevent this, Great Southeast Flooring America uses the Acufloor tile-leveling system, which raises and lowers areas of the tiles to meet the adjacent ones. For the consumer, it provides for a high-quality, even flooring surface. Plus, the system allows for a stronger and more secure installation of
the tiles.

If you're having problems with uneven tiles, it could be your installer didn’t use a leveling system. We’d be happy to come out and take a look at it for you. Give us a call at 321-259-6663 or contact us here.
Customer Question:
Does it matter what type of fiber my carpet is made of?

The short answer is yes. Carpet fibers are generally made of olefin, polyester, nylon, or triexta. Olefin is the least-expensive. While it’s moderately resistant to traffic and wear, it has the least innate stain-resistance. It’s also prone to fading.

Carpets made of polyester and nylon are pretty much equal when it comes to stain resistance. But polyester is often considered more resistant to fading. Nylon is far more resilient. It will usually look better than polyester over the long term and in carpets with higher pile. As such, nylon tends to be more expensive than polyester.

Triexta is a new fiber made by DuPont and Mohawk. It offers the best in comfort, fade resistance, stain resistance, and durability. As an additional benefit, it is also green friendly. Carpets made of Triexta are usually the most expensive.

We sell all these products in our store and would love to help you choose the right carpet fiber your next renovation project.
