Are you looking for a spring break activity that is both fun and educational for you and your child?
Literacy Inc is offering 2 workshops to help parents learn how to spur critical thinking through reading and exploration. This workshop will educate parents about the common core standards being used in NYC Public Schools and about how to further stimulate learning at home.
It is a bi-lingual program for both parents and children with fun and educational activities for all.
Parents will join in groups where they will read through a non-fiction book and learn how to come up with open-ended questions that help develop analytical and critical thinking skills. Children attending the workshop will engage in a fun read aloud and arts and crafts activities. the workshop ends with a non-fiction scavenger hunt in the children's library. Each parent will be given a card entitled, "can you find a book about me?" which will have 4 clues on it. Parents will read the clues aloud to the child and the child will use the clues to figure out what kind of books to find.
All are encouraged to attend and learn!
