Powerful history at PHS
A towering piece of history came to Patriot High School on 9/12/2018.

To commemorate 9/11/2001, local firefighters displayed a single steel beam – pulled from the rubble of the World Trade Center after a terrorist strike killed almost 3,000 Americans, shocked the nation and started a war on terror that continues today.

Patriot students saw, touched and reflected on the beam, fastened to a trailer alongside U.S. flags and the name of every firefighter who died serving others on 9/11.

College Bound Students
Exciting times for some of our seniors. In October, more than 65 students districtwide were admitted on the spot to the University of La Verne for the 2019-2020 school year, under a partnership with Jurupa Unified.

In 2017, JUSD signed an agreement with the University of La Verne to guarantee admission to any JUSD student who meets admission requirements. Under the pact, the university will waive the admission fee and guarantee a $10,000 minimum annual scholarship for each Jurupa student who enrolls.

Jurupa's 55 mile man
He’s done it again: Thomas Warner, fourth-grade teacher and 100 Mile Club coach at Ina Arbuckle, ran more than 50 miles over a 12-hour span.

From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 12, the instructor jogged 56 miles – about the distance from Jurupa Valley to Huntington Beach.

College expands at JUSD
More courses, more pathways, more options.

Never have Jurupa students had more ways to explore college while still in high school.

From welding to history to computer systems, opportunities for Dual Enrollment continue to multiply. Students can sample a range of college courses; receive high school and college credit simultaneously; and earn up to a year of college credit at no charge.

It works like this: Students concurrently enroll at JUSD and a designated postsecondary institution. The goal is to get a jump on college, learn career skills, or dip a toe into college-level work to test the temperature.

A great teacher supporting great students
Congratulations to Kelsey Finnicum, Agriculture teacher at Rubidoux High School, who was recently awarded the Sectional and Regional Teacher of Excellence award by the California Agriculture Teachers Association (CATA).  With her regional award, Mrs. Finnicum will be included with other regional winners contending for statewide recognition.
