The Lord watches over the foreigner and sustains the fatherless and the widow. Psalm 146:9

A Note of Gratitude from the Director

As we reflect on the journey of WPRP, I want to take a moment to say: I am thankful for YOU!

YOU have played a vital role in building what WPRP is today. Thanks to your support and dedication, we now have over 1,600 people subscribed to our email list, 934 Facebook followers, and we've recently welcomed our 37th family into WPRP.

Each family we partner with is provided, at minimum, one year of paid services and a Family Friend volunteer who walks alongside them, offering support and guidance. That means, to date, we have volunteered 37 years of love to widowed families—what a beautiful testament to the impact we’re making together!

I am deeply thankful for all of you:

  • Our volunteers who offer home projects, professional skills, and personal time.
  • Our donors whose contributions make our work possible.
  • Our businesses and churches who provide unique support as needs arise.

And, of course, I am especially thankful for our WPRP families.

Our families offer support and guidance to each other and show us what true love, resilience, and hope look like. I cannot count how many times a Family Friend has said to me, "My parent has blessed me more than I have blessed them." Our families inspire us every day.

I am blessed. I am blessed to be a vessel for this mission. I am blessed to know you and be a part of this community. I am so grateful for each one of you.

May you have a tremendous Thanksgiving - and know that all of us at WPRP genuinely appreciate you, your love, and support!

With great gratitude,

WE ARE THANKFUL FOR AMERICA'S SERVICE MEN & WOMEN

Reflection by WPRP mom, Elaine

FREEDOM IS NOT FREE

I know this because my 3 oldest sons (16, 12 and 7) spent last Saturday planting flags in their father's veterans cemetery.

This Veteran's Day, I ask all of you to please pray for our Veterans and their families. No matter what you think about our government, the men and women who volunteer to serve in our armed forces deserve our love, respect and prayers.

Recently, the statistics have shown that veteran suicides PER DAY have risen from 12 to 17. And this does not include the number of veterans who are dying from injuries and illnesses caused by their time in service, like my own husband.

My husband paid the ultimate price for the freedoms we enjoy and now my 10 beautiful children bear the weight of growing up without their father as the result of his service and sacrifice.

So, I implore you to pray for our veterans, especially the ones who are lost in desperation and depression, who are despairing of ever having light, hope and love in their lives again.

Please pray that God's magnificent love will reach each of them, when they need it most; that He will have mercy on their souls and save them.

Freedom is not free. So please pray.

~ Elaine, WPRP mom of 10 children
