On A Mission To Connect Community
GREAT THINGS IN 2022
By Julie Smith, TRED Executive Director

On behalf of the TRED Board of Directors and myself, we are so grateful for your support this year. TRED has been able to carry out our mission of connecting community in many ways:

  • TRED's flagship project, the Redmond Trail Connection began construction, the first loop in the Heritage Riverways Trail Network.

  • Educating Rome Rotary, The Exchange Club, Spires residents, Leadership Rome and High School Leadership Rome on the economic importance of trail systems in communities.

  • Contributing $25,000 to the Redmond Trail shortfall so construction could begin (the trail will be complete by Summer 2022!).

  • Working with community partners such as RACA to enhance the trails with art, providing bikes for 100 needy children at Christmas through the Floyd County Police Department Santa Bike Patrol, installing a pollinator garden at GE Trails with Master Gardeners and Keep Rome Floyd Beautiful, and working alongside Berry College students picking up litter and cleaning the trails.

  • Providing ongoing trail maintenance at GE, Blossom Hill and Jackson Hill Trails.

  • Advocating city and county leaders to discuss future trails, regional connectivity, and safety enhancements.

  • There were more people on the trails for the first time enjoying beautiful views along the Oostanaula River from the Mt Berry Trail, reconnecting with each other, and rediscovering the joys of riding a bike.

  • TRED's Walk and Talk series forged new friendships and introduced people to new trails.

We are excited for what 2022 has in store and hope that you will be along for the ride with us as we continue what we've started and embark on:

  • Adding trail amenities with our partners from the City of Rome

  • Creating more miles of trails and a Fit to Read Trail at GE

  • Quarterly trail clean ups with our friends at Keep Rome Floyd Beautiful

  • Living out our mission to Connect Community by enhancing quality of life through a healthy and vibrant trail system

  • And a few surprises along the way!

Happy Trails!
Julie

86 people (perhaps you?) have financially supported TRED in the "I Love Trails" campaign-THANK YOU! We are halfway to our goal of $75,000 to further our mission. If you love trails and have not contributed, would you consider a donation of any size?
Great things in business (and trails) are never done by one person, They're done by a team of people. We are grateful for our partners:
Thanks to Bill Thornton and his chuckwagon for providing the delicious hotdog lunch at the 1st Day Hike at Lock and dam on New Year's Day!
