News from Habitat La Pine Sunriver: June 2020

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

What an amazing week it has been! Nearly 12 weeks after closing in March, the Habitat La Pine ReStore opened its doors again on Tuesday, June 2. Thanks to your enthusiastic turnout, we had one of our biggest days ever, earning over $3,000 in just six hours. This is what makes our La Pine and South Deschutes County Community so special: our energy and support for one another, for a place where we meet to catch up and do business, and for a store whose work helps us build and repair homes. Thank you!

ReStore’s first week is focused on sales only, and we will resume accepting donations the week of June 8. If you have been doing your sorting and spring cleaning during quarantine, we want your donations! Drop-off donations will be welcomed on Thursdays from 10a-2p (starting Thurs, June 11), or you may call to schedule an appointment for an alternate time. The ReStore van is happy to schedule curbside pickups at your home or business for larger items and furniture; call us at 541-536-3234 or email our Store Manager, Toni Lewis, at toni@habitatlapinesunriver.org . We can’t wait to help you clear out the shed, the garage, or the spare bedroom.

This week’s ReStore opening is the first of two celebrations—in a few weeks, we expect to welcome volunteers back to the build site, with smaller crews and more volunteer days to ensure compliance with Deschutes County guidelines. Meanwhile, the build continues, with framing and trusses up thanks to talented subcontractors who have helped us to keep going.

Now, more than ever, HFHLPS is deeply grateful for our roots and supports in La Pine, Sunriver, and greater South County. Our work brings us together: to be connected, to rebuild when times are tough, and to share in our mission, to ensure that each of us can have a safe, healthy place to call home.

Thank you for all you do in our community, and for helping us to be a small part of the recovery that is just beginning.

With Gratitude,
