For the  parents and families of St. Therese Chinese Catholic School

Dear Parents,

As the weather slowly gets warmer, we are getting ready to celebrate Easter. Our 7th and 8th graders staged a moving portrayal of the Living Stations of the Cross last weekend, an annual tradition enjoyed by our parish and families. Students will repeat the portrayal this week on Holy Thursday so that all students may reflect on the truly meaningful experience.

The students have completed their Aspire testing, and we have closed the books on this year's testing! All students worked very hard to do their best. Thank you to the parents for preparing your children for this important week! To celebrate, we had a great Spirit Week full of faculty follies, spirit events, and dress down theme days. It was a fun week - be sure to check out the pictures below and on Family Photo Gallery on the website

Please note that Tuesday, April 22nd and Wednesday, April 23rd are Online Learning Days, and students do NOT come to school on these days. Please check with your child's Teacher's Page for the posted assignments. These Online Learning Days are set so that our teachers will be able to attend important workshops and conferences at the National Catholic Educators Association Conference at McCormick Place. We are excited to share that some of our students will be performing at the conference as well!

I hope your family has a blessed Easter.

Get ready for a new event -
Phoenix Warrior Fun Run!

Parents!  This year we are trying out a new fundraiser called the Phoenix Warriors Fun Run!

This is a two-week program that kicks off with a Pep Rally on Wednesday, May 8th. Families will then gather pledges for every lap your student runs (30-35 laps), and we'll celebrate at the Fun Run on Friday, May 17th. The Fun Run will feature music, fun lighting, and a high-energy environment for the children. We think this will be a great way for our children to get involved, be active, and have fun all in the name of supporting our great school!

We have set a goal of raising $15,000 for St. Therese Chinatown Campus classroom improvements. We have teamed up with an organization called Boosterthon to power our Fun Run and make it easier, more profitable, and more fun.
You will hear more about this program in the coming weeks, but right now we are looking for volunteers to help make this a success.

Specifically, we need:
-Volunteers to help decorate the school to start to get kids and families excited for the run on  Tuesday, April 30th from 2-3pm (note: most of the materials are already created for us!)
-Volunteers to  help count laps and cheer on the kids at the Fun Run on  Friday, May 17th between 8am and 2:30pm (classes are scheduled for their runs as shown below - you don't need to stay the entire day, but are certainly welcome!).

8-9am 1st and 2nd
9-10am JK and K
10-10:45am PreK
10:45-11:45am 3rd and 4th
12:15-1:15pm 5th and 6th
1:15-2:15pm 7th and 8th

Please let either your Room Parent or Rena Hui  ( know if you are able to help on April 30th or May 17th.

Spirit Week Full of Silly Fun!

Teachers, staff, and students enjoyed our annual Spirit Week - the perfect way to let off steam after Aspire testing! With Spirit Week events and Faculty Follies such as Matching Day, Teacher Family Feud, or Crazy Day, students AND staff showed their St. Therese Spirit and had a lot of fun!

School Prays International Rosary

Students gathered to pray the Rosary, devoting each decade to an area of the world supported by the Catholic Relief Services Rice Bowl Project.

Each year, we participate in the CRS Rice Bowl Project, connecting our students with those in need around the world.

While there are no changes to our dress code for next year, it is a good idea to get your orders in early to ensure arrival in time for the start of school in August.

Our uniform provider, Martinelli's, will be at the St. Therese Campus on Wednesday, May 1st, 2019, from 7:30am-8:30am and at the St. Barbara Campus on Tuesday, April 30th from 6:30pm-7:15pm. Swing by to check out sizing and place an order for next year's uniforms. You can also visit their website , the storefront at 3517 West 95th St. in Evergreen Park, or call them directly at 708-425-6287.

The full detailed calendar will be loaded onto the school website over the next few weeks. Please be sure to refer to the website calendar for updates and changes to our school calendar.
Don't Forget! Spring Raffle tickets are due back to the office
by MONDAY, MAY 13th!
