For the  parents and families of St. Therese Chinese Catholic School

Dear Parents,

I hope everyone had a nice Spring Break with their families. We are in the final push until the end of the year now - we will be setting up for graduation before we know it!

As a reminder, students in grades 3 through 8 will be taking the ACT Aspire tests each morning from Tuesday, April 2 nd  through Friday, April 5 th . The ACT Aspire is an important test that tells us your child's achievement and educational needs. The results will be used to help better address these needs for all students.  Help us make our testing days go smoothly and successful for your child and our school by reviewing the information included in this newsletter below .

As noted below and in our last newsletter, Friday, May 10 will now be a NO SCHOOL day in appreciation for raising our goal amount during the Faculty Follies at CNY. We hope this will  be a welcome treat for all!

For those early planners, we are finalizing the 2019-2020 school year calendar and will be  sending the calendar highlights/key dates home next week.

Have a wonderful weekend - although it is still chilly there are definitely signs of spring all around us.

Best,
Ms. Lisa Deborah Oi
Principal

New Family Enrollment Referral Program Continues

money_lots.jpg

W e continue to offer a $300 Tuition Credit Incentive for New Family Referrals! Any current St. Therese or St. Barbara family who refers a new family to us will earn a $300 discount off their tuition if that family enrolls with St. Therese. Note that the new student/family must stay at least 6 months before the referral tuition credit is applied. Please contact Mrs. Chan in the St. Therese school office if you have questions about this incentive program.
Aspire Testing Time is Here!

Students in grades 3 through 8 will be taking the ACT Aspire tests each morning from Tuesday, April 2nd through Friday, April 5th. The ACT Aspire is an important test that tells us your child's achievement and educational needs. The results will be used to help better address these needs for all students as well.

We kindly request your assistance in helping to prepare your child for this important assessment.  It is very important that your child is feeling well physically, is in a good mood, is motivated, and feels prepared to do well on the tests without experiencing a high level of test anxiety. For each test day, please consider the following:
  1. Lay out gym uniform and school supplies the night before each day.
  2. Make sure your child gets enough sleep each night.
  3. Ensure your child eats a healthy/nutritious breakfast each day.
  4. Make sure your child arrives on time - this is very important for the benefit of ALL students.  All students should be in their classroom by 7:50.
  5. Make the morning a pleasant one. Do not add to your child's stress by getting into an argument or causing a high level of test anxiety.
  6. Encourage your student to do his/her best.
  7. Be positive and express confidence in your child about taking the test.
  8. Remind your child to listen and read all instructions and questions carefully.
  9. Encourage your child to pace themselves so they finish the test but equally, if not more important, not to rush through the test. Rushing through the test may lead to misinterpreting something and missing a question that s/he knows the correct answer.
  10. Tell your child to follow all teacher instructions and to ask any questions if they don't understand the test instructions before the test begins.
Your help is greatly appreciated. The ACT Aspire testing is a great time where we can celebrate learning achievements and learn how we can help your child and all students at St. Therese.
