"We are one family of God"

Mass in the cmp_MIKE.jpg

Camp of Malakal, 12/08/2021

I have been in the United Nations camp for Internally Displaced people since November 2014. There are now as of today 33,000 people living in the camp in plastic sheeting tents or in small tin roof structures very close to one another. There have been some cases of the delta variant but it has yet to affect the whole population here.

Thanks to donor support I have been able to remain with the people being

present with them in their struggle to get through each day.

I visit families in their tented homes to find out how they are doing, visit the hospitals and clinics to be with those who are sick, help organize the many activities in our Catholic Church while trying to instil hope that better times are coming for our people here when they can once again return to their homes.

New Solidarity Emails

As you may know, two years ago we embarked on a journey to improve and modernise our website, the social media and communications in general.

An integral part of this modernisation is the new 'corporate' email network. Over the last few months, we have dedicated ourselves to this project, managing to activate our own domain, so that everything looks as professional and effective as an organisation like ours deserves. For this reason, you can now contact us at the emails in the link.

Please update your database accordingly and circulate this information to your communities. In order to avoid losing important communications, the old emails will remain active for a few weeks.

Welcome Fr David

We are happy to announce that Fr. David Gentry Akin has been appointed as the new Solidarity Mission Promoter and, a few days ago, joined our staff in Rome.

Fr Dave is a priest of the diocese of Stockton in California, USA. He has served as a professor of theology for the past 27 years. He earned a masters in theology from the University of Notre Dame (USA) and the pontifical licentiate and doctorate in theology from the Catholic University of Leuven (Louvain) in Belgium. Dave has worked as an elementary and secondary school teacher, as well as in hospital chaplaincy and parish ministry. He looks forward to doing his very best to make a substantial contribution to our mission.

Welcome David!
