Spring Activities for Children
If you're looking for things to do with your kids this spring, particularly during vacation week, we've found some cool resources that should help you in your quest to keep your kids busy. Have fun!
Measles Information
In light of the current measles outbreak, we are sharing information about the situation in our area. Measles is one of the most contagious airborne diseases. So much so that if one person has it, up to 90% of the people close to that person who are not immune will also become infected. Infected people can spread measles to others from four days before through four days after the rash appears. The virus can live for up to two hours in an airspace where an infected person coughed or sneezed. Read more here.
Separation Anxiety in Children with Special Needs
Separation anxiety is a normal part of early development which usually ends around 2 years of age. For children with special needs, separation anxiety presents additional challenges that are rooted in a heightened sense of emotions felt when they experience separation anxiety. For an example of the wonderful way an airline's flight attendant was able to calm down a young boy in the middle of a meltdown, read more here.
