We envision a community where all people are empowered with information and have access to resources which increase their opportunities for success.
Meet Norma Diaz - Program Coordinator
Collier Resource Center (CRC) is pleased to introduce Norma Diaz, who joined our team as Program Coordinator. Norma’s focus is on client intake and case management, increasing outreach using a multi-cultural approach, overseeing the client tracking software and working with the volunteer team.

Norma’s extensive knowledge of our community and her relationship with other nonprofit organizations makes her the ideal candidate to effectively connect CRC clients with the most appropriate local resources.
Collaboration Works: a Client Story
An insurmountable obstacle stood between Jerry and his freedom. Recently disabled and confined to a wheelchair, he was unable to use the stairs attached to his mobile home. Jerry couldn’t leave or enter his own home and was trapped because he couldn’t afford to build a wheelchair ramp.

Jerry called the Collier Resource Center(CRC) for help. Norma Diaz, program coordinator, knew what to do. She reached out to CRC board member Silvia Puente, who is a Collier County Public Library branch manager — the “go-to” person for Immokalee resources. Silvia then contacted a local non-profit which used private funds and local volunteers to build the ramp.

Volunteer Spotlight: Barbara Desanzo
Barbara Desanzo, Collier Resource Center Client Advocate, has been with the organization since day one.

“What many of us do with relative ease, is an insurmountable obstacle for others,” says Barbara. And that is what drives her in this advocacy role. Her love of research and a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for others is what gives her meaning and purpose.

Our volunteers who work directly with clients are now called Client Advocates.
When the Collier Resource Center opened in June 2016, our Client Services volunteers began helping people who sought our assistance.

We realized how much more we offer than information and referral. We are activists advocating on behalf of our clients, offering extensive case management and follow up services.

This necessitated a change of title. Our volunteers who work directly with clients are now called Client Advocates.

When an individual is associated with a larger non-profit, they often benefit from that organization’s case management. However, our clients usually aren’t being assisted by a larger charity, which is why they turn to us for help navigating the maze of health and human service organizations.

The phrase we often hear from those we help is, “Thank you for not giving up on me.”

That’s advocacy and that’s what we do best!
