Ray-Pec Parents,

I know you will agree with me when I say that there is so much to be thankful for in this great school community. As a new resident, I feel blessed to be a part of this school district. I want to focus this email update to you on a few of the great things that are happening at Ray-Pec.

Two graduation ceremonies were held last weekend at Panther
Stadium to celebrate the Class of 2020. It was a great weekend to bring students back to campus. Congratulations to all of our 437 graduates! Valedictorian Ella Schnake spoke at the Saturday ceremony, and salutatorian Alec Heriford addressed guests at the Friday ceremony. Thanks to our high school and district staff for making these ceremonies possible.

A+ graduates
A large number of 2020 graduates completed the requirements for the A+ program, which provides scholarship funds to eligible students who attend a participating public community college or vocational/technical school, or certain private two-year vocational/technical schools. Congratulations, students! Read the entire list here .

Ray-Pec High School student Audrey Huffman placed 9th in the nation in the FBLA Client Service Event. In 2019, Audrey placed third in the nation in Impromptu Speaking at the FBLA Awards of Excellence Program. She will be a junior this fall at Ray-Pec High School.

National certification
The District's new Activities Director, Kirk Hipple, has completed the requirements to be designated as a Certified Athletic Administrator by the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA). Congratulations, Kirk!

Sometimes, the daily grind can wear on us. It is always refreshing to take a step back and see the good around us. There has been plenty of good this summer, and I look forward to much more as we move forward.

Thank you for trusting your children with the Ray-Pec School District,

Mike Slagle
