National School-Based Health Alliance Honors Jane Hamilton

Jane Hamilton, RN, practice manager of Bassett Healthcare Network’s School-Based Health Program, was honored with the prestigious 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award by the National School-Based Health Alliance in Washington, D.C, on July 2, 2024.

The Alliance’s Lifetime Achievement Award celebrates a leader who has demonstrated a strong commitment to making an impact in school-based health.

These leaders are innovative, dedicated, and collaborative advocates who offer outstanding contributions in the field, manifesting the vision of quality school-based healthcare for all young people.

Hamilton helped establish Bassett Healthcare Network’s School-Based Health Program when it opened its first clinic in 1992. Since then, she has helped expand and develop the program to include 22 clinics across 18 school districts in Central New York. Bassett's more than 7,200 enrolled students receive medical, dental, and mental healthcare. Since families can receive all school-based health services at no out-of-pocket cost, this program has become one of the top fundraising priorities for the Friends of Bassett. Valley Health Services Receives Grant from Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties

We are thrilled to announce that Valley Health Services has received a generous $15,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties (CFHO). This funding will significantly enhance Bassett’s ability to serve its community, particularly those in need of specialized care and rehabilitation.

Valley Health Services is dedicated to providing comprehensive long-term residential care, as well as short-term care and rehabilitation services.

Valley Health Services has used the grant from CFHO to purchase advanced equipment specifically designed to aid in the recovery of individuals affected by strokes, neurological conditions, and other complex medical issues. With this new equipment, the skilled VHS team is better equipped to offer targeted therapies that will improve patient outcomes and shorten recovery times.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties for their continued support and commitment to enhancing healthcare in our region. This grant is more than just a financial contribution; it is an investment in the health and well-being of our community. Thank you, CFHO, for helping us make a difference!

O'Connor Hospital Launches Initiative to Purchase New CT Scanner

This summer, O’Connor Hospital embarked on an important initiative to raise $750,000 for the acquisition and installation of a new CT scanner. This state-of-the-art equipment is crucial to the hospital's Emergency Department, ensuring the continuation of high-quality patient care and faster, more accurate diagnoses.

To date, the initiative has successfully raised over one-third of the proposed goal, thanks to the generous support of our community and a dollar-for-dollar match that has doubled the impact of every contribution.

The new CT scanner will enhance our ability to provide top-tier care, ensuring that patients receive the critical services they need when they need them most.
