“Citius, Altius, Fortius”
Like most, I have been fervently watching the 2020 Olympic Games. Yes, the 2020, not 2021 games. Even in the decision to keep it the 2020 Olympic Games, the motto above, which translates 'faster, higher, stronger,' seems more apropos.
I believe this motto could also be applicable to our chapter membership organizations. Many of you have been called on to do so much more than ever imagined, and have exceeded all expectations. Whether you have been immersed in raising more money for escalating basic human needs or reimagining how you serve the city through desperately needed arts programs, you have been asked to be faster, higher, stronger.
I share this quote from Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympic Games:
“The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not winning but taking part; the essential thing in life is not conquering but fighting well.”
Keep fighting well!

August Program with Dr. Angela Seaworth
|
|
August 25, 2021 IN-PERSON Program
Trends in Philosophy
Have you ever wanted to make sense of the sea of fundraising data? Which trends matter?
Dr. Angela Seaworth, Ph.D., MBA, ACFRE, and Director of Philanthropic Initiatives & Capacity Building at the Center for Nonprofits and Philanthropy at Texas A&M University, will share recent fundraising data from Giving USA and the Fundraising Effectiveness Project (FEP), and discuss how we can use the data from these reports to inform an organization's fundraising. This discussion of fundraising data, trends, and FEP tools can help you improve your fundraising effectiveness.
Dr. Angela Seaworth has more than 20 years of multifaceted experience in the nonprofit sector as a professional fundraiser, consultant, and professor. She developed fundraising as a functional expertise early in her career and, for the past decade, has focused on advancing the field through nonprofit education and research. She founded the Center for Philanthropy at Rice University and taught graduate courses at Notre Dame and University of California Irvine. She has also served as a subject matter expert for CFRE International, on the ACFRE Credentialing Board, and in various local AFP Chapter roles. Angela earned her Ph.D. in Philanthropic Studies at the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, her MBA from the University of Chicago, and BA from Denison University.

2021 CFRE Refresher Course is October 8
|
|
This one-day course enables participants to apply fundraising theory, skills and techniques within the six knowledge domains of the field, based on experience at the level of five-years and above. The course is not presented in a lecture format; rather, it is a combination of a high-level review, self-exploration of knowledge and peer exchange of best practices – all of which are based on using a case study approach.
If you are planning to take the CFRE exam, make plans to take this one-day course, brought to you by Greater Dallas AFP, Fort Worth Metro AFP, and AFP Global:
When: Friday, October 8, 2021, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Where: University of Dallas, 1845 E. Northgate Drive, Irving, TX 75062
