Happy Fourth of July! Summer is a time when some fundraising shops are mercifully quieter. Our fundraising efforts slow down because many donors, foundations and individuals, are physically or mentally on vacation.
I hope you’ve made plans to slow down during June and July when fundraising is at its slowest. I hope that you are enjoying friends and family and doing self-care rituals that will leave you re-charged for the upcoming and very busy third and fourth quarters of the year. Because burnout is something that plagues our profession, remember that self-care and work-life balance are a fundraising professional's best bet for a long career.
The Greater Dallas AFP Chapter is taking this advice by not having a July luncheon program or board meeting. Cheers!
We are also excited about our next program on August 28th, with the formidable Heather Stevens as our speaker. And be sure to save the date for National Philanthropy Day, Thursday, November 14 at the Dallas Arboretum.
I pray each of you has a successful month – no matter the metric of success!
