In the event we are instructed by the city or local health officials to extend the postponement of activities through the summer, an announcement will be posted on our website and our social media channels. An email will also be sent.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Shawn Wills
Dear Friends,

The sight of spring and the promise of new beginnings is coming, and it can’t be stopped, and while beginnings typically happen at the first of the year, May kicks off new beginnings here in Texas as we slowly emerge from government-mandated quarantines and cautiously get back to some of the things we once enjoyed and took for granted - like visiting family and friends or grabbing a bite to eat at our favorite restaurants. Thankfully, the end of the quarantine also means we can begin the process of resuming our monthly lunch programs and other events, with necessary precautions in place, of course. Oh, how I miss seeing everyone!

These are certainly unprecedented times and we are all learning as we go along. As such, it is important to understand and remember that we will all need help in some way as we navigate the ever-changing landscape, and we should all do our best to help others whenever needed. As fundraisers, we must also continue learning and honing our skills while making the most of the digital world. Speaking of which, I am extremely excited to announce that in the coming days and weeks we will offer several online webinars, panels and platforms for you to ask questions, share resources and engage in conversation. We will also debut a new Summer Series which will be eligible for CFRE credits. More details to come.

Until then, please stay safe and stay healthy and know that I look forward to connecting with you soon!

Take good care,

Shawn Wills, CFRE

REMEMBERING CECILE BONTE
The Greater Dallas AFP's 2010 Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser Cecile Bonte died on April 16th after a brave battle with cancer. She was 83 years old. Cecile had a long volunteer resume. Last year the Dallas Opera designated her an honorary lifetime director “for her longstanding support and service.” Cecile was also a passionate supporter of the Dallas Arboretum, joining the board more than 20 years ago, serving multiple terms, and working on numerous events and committees. Her most significant role was that of capital campaign chair of the Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden, which raised nearly $60 million. The Life Cycles gallery in the children’s garden was named for her, and she was later named Board Member Emeritus.
