"We would worry less if we praised more. Thanksgiving
is the enemy of discontent and dissatisfaction.”
- H.A. Ironside
November begins my favorite time of the year. For those of us in the fundraising field, it is also the busiest. We can get caught up with pulling donor lists, determining ask amounts, setting direct mail and online giving goals, and for some, The Gala. Because of the work we do, we can sometimes forget that this is the season of thanksgiving. It is the perfect time of the year to let staff, donors, superiors and others know how thankful you are for them. I know that my heart is overflowing with thankfulness for our board, Madeleine and her team, our membership, and for sponsors who have stood by the Greater Dallas AFP Chapter during these challenging seasons.
I love this quote from Gertrude Stein: "Silent gratitude isn't very much use to anyone.” Please remember to let those around you know how grateful you are for them and then make plans to join us for this special event and let your voice of thankfulness be heard.
