Dear Members and Friends,

As Executive Director of the McKinney Education Foundation, I know how important scholarships are for furthering education.I also know that if you don't apply for a scholarship, you won't get one! Did you know that as an AFP Greater Dallas Chapter member, there are scholarships available just for you?

  • Are you new to fundraising and want to learn about the basics? A limited number of scholarships are awarded on the basis of need for the yearly Fundamentals of Fundraising Course. This year's course will be held October 18-19 at Dallas Baptist University.
  • Need help with continuing education? The John Davis Scholarship Fund provides scholarships that can be used for AFP membership, continuing education fees, and course materials. The Barbara James Scholarship provides scholarship opportunities to AFP members from diverse populations for membership, education and materials.
  • Dreaming of going to the AFP International Conference? The Ralph Chamberlain Scholarship provides a scholarship for a member of the Greater Dallas Chapter to attend the annual AFP International Conference. The next conference is April 7-9, 2013 in sunny San Diego.
  • Not yet a member but would like to join, if only you could get help with your membership dues? The Scott Buchanan Scholarship Fund provides 50% of the cost of new member AFP scholarships for one year.
  • Awarded to persons from diverse populations, the Barbara James Scholarship can also be used toward a new AFP membership.

Remember, membership has its privileges! For information on any of these opportunities, go to http://www.afpdallas.org/scholarships.asp.

Stay cool, and I look forward to seeing you on August 22nd as Jeff Herrington entertains and enlightens us on "Pop Culture in Philanthropy."

Best regards,

Melanie Perkins
