PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Dear Greater Dallas AFP Members,
It's November, and you know what that means, right? Our annual National Philanthropy Day Luncheon is just around the corner. Every year, for the past twenty-eight years, the Dallas Chapter of AFP has honored the best of the best in philanthropy. This year is no exception as we honor: Katherine Perot Reeves, Outstanding Philanthropist; Chris Kleinert, Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser; Children's Cancer Fund, Outstanding Foundation; BlueCross BlueShield of Texas, Outstanding Corporation; Charlsie Doan, Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy; and Milton Key, Outstanding Fundraising Executive. This is a fantastic group of people and organizations who have made it their mission to make Dallas a better place for everyone who lives here. I look forward to seeing you at the Hyatt Regency on Friday, November 14th.
But our celebration of philanthropy doesn't stop in November. Make plans to attend our annual Holiday Luncheon at the Communities Foundation of Texas. On December 10th we will hear from Jean-Claude Saada, President and CEO of Cambridge, Inc. and founder of the Saada Foundation and the Cambridge Mindful Living Foundation, which focus on health initiatives.
The 2015 slate of Greater Dallas AFP officers and directors has been elected, and we are already working on new collaborations, a new professional development subscription package, and a new mentoring program, just to name a few of our initiatives. You may ask, "How does any of this help me become a better fundraiser?" A collaboration with another professional organization helps AFP Dallas present better educational programs. A subscription package makes it easier for you, the member, to schedule and budget your professional development. Our mentoring program helps the new fundraiser learn from the experienced professional, and the experienced fundraiser learn a fresh perspective from the younger generation.
The Greater Dallas AFP board of directors and fellow members are available to help you with your career, to offer suggestions for your fundraising challenges, and, most important of all, to be your friend and colleague. See you at NPD!
Greater Dallas AFP President Diana Marquis says "Stay in touch with your Greater Dallas AFP Chapter and don't miss news of important events and opportunities!" Changed jobs? When your title, business and/or mailing address, email, or any other contact data changes, be sure to go to www.afpnet.org immediately and update your personal record. The Greater Dallas Chapter receives updates monthly, but if you only correct your information locally, it will be overwritten when we import the latest national spreadsheet into our local database.
