It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Two great holiday events are happening JUST for Hilton Village!

The 2020 Virtual Village Gingerbread Celebration is looking for bakers and creators! Get your family and neighbors on board to bake a gingerbread creation at home, on your own leisurely time and…without the usual pressure of having to transport it!

The only rule in our contest is everything must be edible, and the main structure must be gingerbread. We have had folks in the past build gingerbread creations in the shape of houses, a ship, churches, robots, ramen bowls, presents and more! It doesn’t have to be a traditional style gingerbread house, you can let your imagination run wild!

Deadline for entry photos has been extended to December 13^th! The process to enter is simple.

Message Hilton Village Events on FB ASAP, let us know that you will be participating, and start baking. Once finished, send a picture of your creation via FB message to Hilton Village Events so we can add it to our post. (Just like we did with the Harvest Gold Scarecrow Contest!)

Voting will be via FB likes so be sure to share the post and let everyone know that you are participating! This is a great chance to challenge neighbors to a bake-off or even family members in the same house!

We can’t wait to see what you come up with this year, remember- it just needs to be edible. If you have any questions, send a message to Hilton Village Events FB and we will be happy to help!

From Cedar to Franklin, Warwick to River Rd, Warwick on the James to Rivermont, deck the yard, hang the lights, and be creative in celebrating this festive holiday season!

If you would like to participate and enter your beautifully decorated home

in the contest make sure to get your entry information in by emailing

marketing@robbinsnestrealtor. com. Include your name, address and phone number. Entries must be received no later than December 6th.

The collective neighborhood vote for "Neighboorhood Choice" will occur submitting your selection on the Robbins Nest Realtor website OR you may also vote in person by tearing off a slip from the December postcard from Robbins Nest Realtor and dropping it in the VOTING BOX which will be located at the corner of Main & River Rd by the lending library. The VOTING BOX will also have voting slips available. Votes for the Neighborhood Choice will be due no later than Friday, December 11th. Houses will be listed on the Robbins Nest Realtor website

and also on the Greater Hilton FB page.

On Saturday, December 12th, Newport News Mayor Price, NNPD Chief Drew,

& Dana Robbins will vote to choose the following winners:

Best of Hilton, Best Lighting & Most Whimsical.

Michele Morse-Buszard, winner in the adult category, explained her unique design, saying, “I believe if everyone masked up properly, we could eventually rise up above COVID-19. Our own state outline morphed into the Phoenix helps inspire us that we will fly and improve things as we go forward.”

Online Information Session for Rivermont Area

Drainage Improvement Project

The Department of Engineering is holding an online information and feedback session for a drainage improvement project in the Rivermont area of the city. Residents can learn about the project, planned detours, and the three construction phases through this virtual public information session that's available now and can be viewed at any time.

This project includes the construction of a storm water drainage system in the southbound lane of Warwick Boulevard from Raleigh Road to the Government Ditch, connecting existing storm water drainage systems to the Government Ditch. Additionally, resurfacing and associated concrete repairs will be made in the project area along Warwick Boulevard. Construction on this project is expected to begin in January 2021, with anticipated completion in October 2022.

The informational session is available on the city's website and questions and feedback can be submitted directly to the project manager. Comments on the project should be submitted by November 16, 2020. Maps, drawings and other project information can also be viewed at Newport News City Hall in the Department of Engineering on the 7th Floor at 2400 Washington Avenue. (Taken from: NN Now........
