On Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 10 a.m., the City of Orlando, in collaboration with Orange County, Track Shack Events, the Greater Orlando Sports Commission, USA Track and Field and the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee,

will host America’s best runners for the

2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Marathon.

These athletes will compete on a course that runs through downtown Orlando and surrounding neighborhoods to qualify to represent Team USA in the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

The City of Orlando has worked to keep residents and businesses well-informed regarding the impact of this event. For information related to road closures, pedestrian movement, detours and parking, visit Orlando.gov/olympicroadclosures.

WHERE TO WATCH

The local organizing committee is encouraging fans to gather at several Spectator Viewing Zones for a great view of the race including:

• The Start Line on Rosalind Ave. near Amelia St.,
• The Finish Line on Rosalind Ave. near Washington St. at Lake Eola,
• Seneff Arts Plaza at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts,
• and City Hall Plaza on Orange Ave.

Participants, volunteers, event staff, and spectators must pass through a security screening prior to entering Spectator Viewing Zones. Items deemed dangerous or inappropriate will be confiscated or denied access at the sole discretion of security personnel. 

To provide a safer environment for the public and significantly expedite patron entry to Spectator Viewing Zones, a ‘clear bag’ policy will be implemented for Lake Eola and the surrounding Marathon viewing areas. Any bags larger than 8.5” x 11” must be clear and are subject to search. Exceptions include medically necessary items and parent bags. All items are subject to security search guidelines. A MESSAGE FROM MAYOR BUDDY DYER

As we have seen time and time again, sports have the power to bring us together. Over the years, our hometown teams and sporting events have helped us unite as a community. Sports give us a common pride and add to our civic identity.

That’s why I believe that hosting some big sporting events in the next few weeks is something that we can all be proud of.

On Saturday, February 3, our city will welcome the nation’s top long-distance runners to compete at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Marathon for a chance to represent the United States at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. Orlando is the first city in Florida to host this event.

The course runs through downtown Orlando and past several neighborhoods. I invite you to line our streets and cheer on some remarkable athletes in their pursuit of Olympic glory. We’re partnering with the Greater Orlando Sports Commission, Track Shack and Orange County Government to make this event a success and I encourage you to learn more about the preparations, including the route and neighborhood impacts at Orlando.gov/OlympicRoadClosures and Orlando2024Trials.com.

This also adds to the long list of national and international events we’ve hosted that make Orlando the top sports destination in the country. It’s fitting that the day after the U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Marathon, we will again host the NFL Pro Bowl Games at our Camping World Stadium on February 4. Orlando hosted four-consecutive Pro Bowl competitions from 2017-20, welcoming the league’s best players, as well as more than 200,000 total visitors.

Sporting events like this provide once-in-a-lifetime experiences, drive economic growth and encourage new and repeat visitors. Those visitors take advantage of what our community has to offer, enjoying our region’s world-class attractions and spending money in Orlando’s restaurants, shops and hotels. Their time in Orlando supports the many residents who work in the hospitality industry and gives a big boost to our small businesses.

Events like these are also celebrations of our community and showcases of all that makes Orlando a special place to live and visit.
