March 25: A Day of National & Religious Significance
Greek pride stands tall as we commemorate Greek Independence Day, honouring the heroes who bravely fought for freedom and the enduring spirit of Hellenism. Parades and flag raisings are planned by the Greek Communities across Canada.
This meaningful day also marks the Feast of the Annunciation, when the Greek Orthodox Church commemorates the Archangel Gabriel’s message to the Virgin Mary. In Toronto The Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church will observe the feast with Great Vespers on the evening of March 24, followed by the Divine Liturgy on March 25.
