Late Buses

While we were disappointed to have to make difficult decisions around the school budget last year, which involved some reductions, we want to remind you of the necessary changes that have an impact on the high school this year. Unfortunately, our late buses which were a helpful resource last year, will not be running this year.

Despite this change we are pleased to continue offering after school clubs and tutoring, which provide opportunities for students to explore their interests and receive additional support.

Financial Aid Seminar

We are pleased to announce the upcoming "Financial Aid 101" webinar, hosted by the Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority (MEFA), specifically designed for the Class of 2025 and their families. This informative session will demystify the college financial aid application process, covering essential topics such as the various types of financial aid available, the factors that influence eligibility, how colleges determine aid amounts, and the specifics of financial aid offers. We believe that empowering families with this knowledge is crucial for supporting student welfare and ensuring access to higher education. To enhance accessibility, live transcription will be available during the webinar. We encourage all families to participate actively in this educational opportunity by clicking HERE for webinar dates and times, and HERE for additional information on MEFA. Your engagement in this process is vital, and we are committed to providing the resources necessary to navigate the financial aid journey together.

Orchestra Students Perform with The Piano Guys

This past Thursday, a remarkable group of Billerica Public Schools students took center stage at the Chevalier Theater in Medford, showcasing their extraordinary talent by performing alongside the renowned Piano Guys! Emma Phung, Chima Iwuchukwu, and Sebastian Pinto from the 6th grade, along with high school stars Lucia Nanda, Madeline Simone, Ayaan Nowaz, Aoife Lancourt, Angelina Caterino, and Lea Tran, all from BMHS, captivated the audience with their rendition of Beethoven's Secret. Their performance not only exemplified BPS's unwavering commitment to academic excellence and community engagement but also highlighted the collaborative spirit that thrives within our school community. The excitement in the air was palpable, as these dedicated students brought their passion and energy to the stage, leaving a lasting impression on everyone present. As they reflected on this incredible experience, their pride in representing BPS shone through, reinforcing the vital role that families and local community members play in supporting student success. What a celebration of talent and teamwork!

Correction: This story ran last week, but freshmen Lucia Nanda was missing from the list of students who performed.

Communication

Welcome Back to our returning students and families! For our new students and families, a quick overview of how we communicate on a daily and weekly basis. Most of our communication occurs directly through our App (additional information can be found below). We have three main calendar feeds for BMHS: School, Athletics, and Fine Arts. Each Sunday evening around 8:00 p.m., the App will send out a notification that shares everything happening at BMHS for the upcoming week. The newsletter will also be sent out on Sunday evenings, typically between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. (depending upon when the Patriots game is being played). The App will also send out a daily notification (Monday - Friday) at 6:00 a.m. that provides the daily bell schedule (A1, A2, B1. B2) and any other events occurring that day. The morning announcements are read each day following the Pledge of Allegiance before being posted on Aspen so students and parents can access the daily announcements throughout the day.

Sunday evening - The Green & White Weekly (emailed and posted on Twitter (X), Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn), BMHS App (The Week Ahead)

Daily (Monday - Friday) - BMHS App (events occurring that day) 6:00 a.m., Morning Announcements (7:25 a.m.) Aspen (announcements) 7:30 a.m.

If you are not receiving these announcements, please make sure we have your correct email address.

BMHS App

The BMHS App provides quick access to timely news and upcoming events. It also allows the user to determine how often and what type of notifications they receive. The first page provides 9 options (not all options are available to all users). The "News" option provides a weekly overview of coming events at BMHS. There is also a daily announcement that includes the schedule rotation, meetings and other events occurring that day.

The "Events" option provides access to the BMHS Calendar, Fine Arts Calendar, and Athletics Calendar. Each of these calendars is dynamic and encompasses the entire school year.

The "My ID" is only available to students and staff.

The "Directory" provides access to all Staff emails and, if applicable, phone number.

The "Quicklinks" option provides quick access to Aspen, Athletics, Community Pass, Guidance, Clubs, Nutrition, and the BMHS Library sign up form.

"Documents" provides access to Bus Routes, Lunch Menus, Handbooks, Program of Studies and other documents.

The "Map" option provides driving directions to MVC schools and locations for school functions.

The "Language" icon allows the user to convert the app into one of 42 different languages.

The phone icon on the bottom of the home page will call our Absentee Line (978-528-8710).
