Wanted: Your Repair & Mending Skills
|
Calling all tinkerers, handy-persons, and craftspeople! We are looking for volunteers to share their repair or mending skills and knowledge as part of a new community event this fall.
Our Repair, Repurpose, and Reuse Fair is on October 2nd and seeks to help community members learn how to repair or repurpose items to extend their useful life and reduce landfill waste.

Any Illinois resident is invited to register for this one day collection event sponsored by the IEPA, DuPage County, Kane County, and the City of Aurora. Household hazardous waste includes a wide variety of chemical cleaners, pesticides, fertilizers, paints, auto fluids and other toxic materials. View the poster for acceptable materials. The USDA has announced funding for local governments to host Community Compost and Food Waste Reduction pilot projects for fiscal year 2021. Priority will be given to projects that anticipate or demonstrate economic benefits, incorporate plans to make compost easily accessible to farmers, including community gardeners, integrate other food waste strategies, including food recovery efforts and collaborate with multiple partners. We offer engaging environmental education programs for people of all ages on topics from composting, to clean water, recycling, energy conservation, gardening and more! In-person programs for small groups and virtual programs (any size) are available. Great for garden clubs, scout groups, HOAs, lunch'n learns and more.
