Celebrate Earth Day with SCARCE and the Glen Ellyn Park District at this free, family-friendly event. Go on a guided hike, partake in an eco-workshop, paddle Lake Ellyn, and more!

March 19th 4:30-6pm
Join soil scientist Vytas Pabedinskas and SCARCE founder Kay McKeen to uncover the complexities of studying our soil. Soils reach across biology, chemistry, geology, geography and history. After this class, you won't look at a landscape the same way!
This month, Naperville girl scouts supported our super crayon project and diverted crayons from the landfill and the Westin Lombard and Elmhurst high school students reduce waste and support Guitars for Vets.
Maplebrook Scouts in Naperville collected 77lbs of crayons for SCARCE.
Westin Hotel is saving their keycards for local students to upcycle.
York High School students are upcycling old gift cards and hotel keys into guitar picks for veterans organization.
Did you know that shredded paper is not accepted in most curbside recycling programs? Learn how you can recycle your shredded paper at SCARCE.
Pre-orders for the annual DuPage Forest Preserve native plant sale open March 11th. Choose from a wide variety of plants that will provide beauty and support pollinators, birds, and other wildlife year-round. Pick up May 10th & 11th.

In addition to document shredding the Wheaton recycling event on April 6th will be collecting medical sharps, household paint (fee-based), and mercury thermometers, thermostats and barometers.
Where is Away? Exhibit at the Elmhurst Public Library

The Elmhurst Public Library is the inaugural host of SCARCE's Where is Away? exhibit. Stop by the 2nd floor information desk to explore the exhibit for answers to your recycling questions. Learn more about the exhibit and how to bring it to your library.

Due to popular demand, we've scheduled another Intro to Zero Waste program. Learn how to cut the amount of waste you create with simple tips and tricks. No matter where you are in the journey to reduce your environmental impact, you're certain to get a few new ideas with this program.

Stop by SCARCE's Used Book & Record Sale to complete the soundtrack for your St. Patrick's Day celebration! Open 9am-12pm every Tuesday and Friday and the 2nd/4th Saturdays of the month. Upcoming Saturdays are March 9th and March 23rd.

Kick off Earth month by celebrating Earth Hour in your community! This worldwide lights-out movement aims to raise awareness and inspire action on climate change. Find out how to get involved.
Help your garden grow green with food scrap compost - an amazingly diverse natural fertilizer. Pre-order compost for your garden to pick up at our annual Growin' Green Garden Market on May 11th.
