Compost your pumpkin at the annual Pumpkin Smash! Composting is nature's way of recycling - it saves resources and reduces greenhouse gas emissions. So don't trash it, smash it!

Dozens of locations to drop-off ydour pumpkin (including SCARCE), find one near you!

Help us make clean compost: remove all non-biodegradable materials from your pumpkin before dropping off, such as candles, plastic or metal of any kind.

Oct 5th, 8am-3pm in Bensenville
Illinois residents are invited to attend this event to safely dispose of unused or leftover hazardous household products at no cost. Items accepted include oil-based paint, cleaning products, yard chemicals and more. Get the full list and details here.

Have you tuned in to our Earth Chats podcast? Join SCARCE founder Kay McKeen and host Carol Richart for a new sustainability topic each episode. Listen on scarce.org or on wherever you get your podcasts.
After October 15th, SCARCE will no longer be able to accept PUR brand water filters and products for recycling. If you're collecting at home, be sure to bring them in before Oct 15th. * Brita brand products will still be accepted
The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County and the DuPage Monarch Project are seeking entries for the Pollinators in Action: Flowering Journeys exhibit this upcoming spring. Submit your on-theme hangable art between Feb 1st and April 15th, 2020. Learn more.
The Village of Villa Park now offers electronics recycling for village residents (must show ID). The service is available on the 3rd Saturday of each month from 9am-12pm at the Public Works Garage.
