Dr. Juriansz regularly suggests eating plant-rich to his patients for their health and he takes this advice to heart; he and his wife have personally been vegan for more than 25 years. Recently, they attended the 10th Annual International Conference on Nutrition Medicine in Washington, D.C. hosted by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. Here’s what he had to say about what he learned:
“The evidence for plant-rich eating is accumulating and it is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore the opportunity we have to make a huge impact without resorting to medications. Considering the rising costs of healthcare and pharmaceuticals, we need to acknowledge the importance of lifestyle factors on both preventing and treating prostate, breast, and colorectal cancer, and cardiovascular and gastrointestinal diseases. The research even indicates that plant-rich eating might be a cure for early type 2 diabetes, returning A1C levels to normal and allowing patients to discontinue medications. If I can get my patients to eat plant-rich, it would be a huge success.”
