Psalm 24:1–6; Matthew 25:14–30

"All We Have"

What has God placed in your hands? And what might happen if you trusted God enough to put it to use?

This Sunday, October 4, we begin our new stewardship series, All In, with a message called “All We Have.” Through Psalm 24 and Jesus’ parable of the talents, we’ll explore a simple but life-changing truth: everything we have is a gift from God, entrusted to our care. Stewardship is about far more than money. It’s about how we use our time, abilities, relationships, and resources to share God’s love.

We’ll also celebrate World Communion Sunday, joining Christians around the globe at Christ’s Table. As we receive the bread and cup with open hands, we’ll remember that generosity begins with the grace we have already received.

Join us as we consider what it means to move beyond fear, trust God with what we’ve been given, and discover what can grow when we offer our gifts in love.

This Sunday we will be

serving Communion

Many people bring a jar or two of peanut butter on communion Sundays as an offering. The peanut butter goes to the Community Food Connection of Blount County.

The Sandal Fund

Green Meadow maintains a special fund to support church community in times of financial need, known as the Sandal Fund. Any cash left on the altar during Communion is added directly to this fund.

Charge Conference, October 4,

at 3:00 at Saint John's UMC

Our annual Charge Conference is an important time in the life of our church. It allows us to celebrate the ministry God has entrusted to us, attend to the business of the church, and look with hope toward the year ahead.

During Charge Conference, we will receive reports, affirm church leadership, review important areas of our ministry, and reflect on how we are living out our mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. While some of the work is administrative, Charge Conference is about much more than paperwork — it is a reminder that everything we do as a church supports our shared ministry and witness.

Our district holds Charge Conferences in clusters, so we will gather alongside a few other churches from across our district. This gives us a wonderful opportunity not only to attend to the work of our own congregation, but also to worship, connect, and celebrate with our United Methodist neighbors.

Gathering together reminds us that our ministry extends beyond the walls of our own church and that we are part of a larger connection of United Methodists serving Christ in our communities and throughout the world.

As part of Charge Conference, each church is asked to prepare a Pastor and Congregation Report reflecting on the life, ministry, and mission of the congregation. Our report offers a snapshot of where we have been, where we see God at work among us, and where we hope to grow in the coming year.

If you would like to read our submission, [click here].

It's time to start thinking and planning for this year's Trunk or Treat. There are many ways you can get involved, from donating candy to setting up/cleanup decorating, or grilling. There is a sign-up sheet in the fellowship hall to tell us you would like to be involved.

🎄 Green Meadow’s Christmas Tree Donation 👼

Green Meadow is excited to support Family Promise’s “Home for the Holidays” fundraiser on Sunday, November 1, by donating a beautifully decorated white Christmas tree for the silent auction.

Our theme is “Angels We Have Heard on High,” and we invite every church family to contribute one or two angel ornaments to help decorate our tree. A collection basket will be available on the kitchen counter at church. Please bring your ornaments by Sunday, October 25, and help us support the families served by Family Promise this holiday season!

We invite all women to join in our purpose "to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. We are turning “faith, hope and love into action on behalf of women, children and youth around the world.”

UWF 2026 Program Schedule

Meetings are held monthly on the 4th Tuesday at noon

for shared lunch, program, and action.

For the full 2026 Unit schedule, click here.

Each week, the bulletin includes Continuing the Conversation: Living the Word Together, a few short questions connected to the sermon that invite reflection on how God’s Word shapes daily life.

These questions can be used over lunch after worship, around the dinner table, in a small group, or in conversation with a friend. The hope is simple: that the sermon continues beyond the benediction through thoughtful conversation and lived discipleship.

Change for Children

Throughout the year, we invite everyone to drop their loose change into the pitcher. Change for Children is a ministry of the Holston Conference that provides grants to ministries serving children. Each year, we take the money collected in our pitcher as one of our church’s offerings to Holston Annual Conference.

Blessing Bucket

On the last Sunday of each month, we pass the Blessing Bucket and share a blessing and an offering. These connectional ministries help our understanding that congregations can do more together to transform the world for the sake of Jesus Christ. To see 2026's full list click here.

Our United Methodist Social Principles remind us,

"We affirm that all creation belongs to God... Human beings,

nonhuman animals, plants, and other sentient and nonsentient beings participate in the community of creation, and their flourishing depends upon the care of all God's creation."

October 2026

According to research, just two hours a week in nature have a positive effect on health and psychological wellbeing—and the benefit holds regardless of age, income, or chronic illness. Build nature time into your routine and your family’s. Take a 10-minute nature break, eat lunch outside, talk and walk. Love yourself and your loved ones.

Green space is critical infrastructure for health and wellbeing. And like all infrastructure, access to it isn't equally distributed. Lower-income neighborhoods consistently have less tree canopy, hotter temperatures, more pollution, and worse health outcomes. Speak up for parks and trees to be placed so that all neighbors benefit.

Weave love of creation and neighbor into your worshipping community’s practices through liturgy, fellowship, education, and contemplation. See to it that creation justice is not just an occasional program or a single campaign or the purview of one committee but a dimension of the congregation’s shared life.

Who pays for pollution? Not the polluters! Challenge government to shift the cost back to where it belongs. As citizens and people of faith, follow Jesus’ story of the persistent widow (Luke 18:1-8), who stuck to her mission and finally convinced the unjust judge. Keep bringing injustice to planet and people to the attention of the powers that be. Write letters, sign petitions, make calls.

Put your money to work for justice. When you buy organic, you guarantee more farmers can grow healthy, safe food. When you buy fair trade, you provide living wages and fight poverty. When you bank with a community bank or credit union, you are investing locally and likely not funding fossil fuel projects. Choose justice.

Persist in the “little things” you do to help the planet—recycling, composting, planting, thrifting, ride sharing, consuming less, using alternatives to plastic—and talk about what you are doing and why. People pay attention to the practices and words of people they know. You make a difference.
