We are very excited to host Xiuhtezcatl pronounced (Shu-tez-caht) Martinez. 15 years old Xiuhtezcatl and his brother Itzcuauhtli pronounced (Eat-squat-lee) Martinez are Indigenous Environmental Activist's, Eco Hip-hop artist's and public speakers from Boulder, Colorado. They have been speaking to crowds at conferences, schools and demonstrations from the Rio+20 United Nations Summit in Rio de Janeiro to addressing the General Assembly at the United Nations New York. The world needs more leaders like Eugen, and you can meet Eugen in person at the Green Schools Summit in Boston this May! Congratulations to you!!
Green Schools Returns to The White House
Green Schools was honored to bring two of our National Green Student Leaders, Mark Thekkethala [Gr. 11] and Aubrey Organ [Gr. 6] to The White House event event highlighting the U.S. Global Change Research Program's latest report, The Impacts of Climate Change on Human Health in the United States: A Scientific Assessment.

This event brought together researchers, educators, organizations, community leaders, and other stakeholders to hear from report authors about the major findings and discuss the implications of climate change for public health.

  • Administrator Gina McCarthy, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

Green Schools Presents at National Green Schools Conference & Expo
Green Schools was excited to return and present at the National Green Schools Conference & Expo in Pittsburgh, PA on March 31- April 1st.

Brian is a co-founder of Brass Valley responsible for executive management, sales, operations and corporate philanthropy.  Since Brass Valley's inception in 2002, he has helped grow the company to occupy a beautiful 100K sq. ft. facility in Milford MA by serving some of the most security conscious companies in the country with innovative risk management solutions for IT Asset Management.  

Prior to starting Brass Valley Brian founded a healthcare training business which was sold in 1997 a real estate company and served in the technology space for several companies in sales and marketing management.

Brian is passionate about philanthropy and serves on several boards serving at risk children.

Applications Open for Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes
The Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes celebrates inspiring, public-spirited young people from diverse backgrounds all across North America. Established in 2001 by author T.A. Barron, the Barron Prize annually honors 25 outstanding young leaders ages 8 to 18 who have made a significant positive impact on people, their communities, and the environment.

ELIGIBILITY
The Barron Prize welcomes applications from public-spirited young people who are, on our  April 15 deadline:
  • between the ages of 8 and 18 (not yet age 19)
  • permanent residents of and currently residing in the U.S.A. or Canada
  • currently working on an inspiring service project or have done so within the past 12 months
  • working as an individual to lead their service work. The Barron Prize does not accept applications from large groups of young people.

The principle goals of this training are to learn how to:
  1. Implement exemplary and sustainable practices in your K-12 school
  2. Reduce environmental impact and costs
  3. Provide experiential environmental education designed to learn many disciplines including STEAM subjects, develop leadership and civic skills, and hone critical thinking skills

The World Advanced Vehicle Expedition (WAVE) is a people's movement offering practical environmentally sustainable actions following the 2015 Paris agreement on climate change. We are looking for schools in coastal cities, where the pupils should simply write their commitment to reducing polluting carbon dioxide (CO2) gas on a piece of paper of 8 x 12 cm. We are inviting 1,000,000 school children in 100 coastal cities from around the world to submit these papers. We would then gather and unveil these at the UN in Switzerland on June 17 as part of an international climate campaign. Learn More
