JOIN Green Schools to #CutTheRedTape

SIGN THE SCHOOL DECLARATION - Schools commit to non-binding climate change mitigation actions such as implementing reduction strategies and reducing CO2 footprint, going paperless and/or meatless Mondays to name a few. Your commitment will be shared at a special UN event in Paris!

STUDENTS TAKE ACTION!  Sign the Petition to World Leaders in Paris at the United Nations Climate Change Conference and share it with your friends & family! It's Time to Act-On-Climate for our future generations!

Green Schools Attends 1st Parent Camp at U.S. Department of Education
On October 26, 2015 Green Schools was delighted to attend the 1st ParentCamp at the U.S. Department of Education.

ParentCamp is "hybrid 'un-conference'" because it calls upon the expertise of everyone in the room (parents, teachers, principals, administrators, etc) to discuss what is best for our kids education.

The goal of the "un-conference" was to model and "provide a platform for parent-teacher conversations" ranging across topics. @ParentCampUSA

The STEM Mentoring Café - ATTENTION NY Teachers and Schools
The
STEM Mentoring Café is a speed-mentoring program aimed at inspiring underrepresented individuals in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) by meeting federal role models and engaging in conversations about STEM careers.

Date:    Saturday, November 14, 2015
Time 10:00am   -   12:00pm
Location:
Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum
Pier 86 - W 46th St and 12th Ave
New York , NY 10036-4103
United States
Phone: 877-957-SHIP (7447)

At this STEM Mentoring Café event, 5th through 8th grade students and girl scout troop leaders will engage in show-and-tell chats with federal employees in STEM careers. We are especially interested in reaching girls and female STEM professionals, to combat their underrepresentation in STEM.  However, this program is available to all interested students and STEM professionals.

The federal STEM professionals will move table to table to share how they got their start in STEM, what interests them the most about their job, what exciting projects they have currently, and why STEM matters to our society. Note that all federal employees are committing to serving an additional 20 hours annually as a mentor to students in their community.

To find out more email us at  [email protected]  or to register your girl scout troop to attend use the teacher/student link below.  Teacher (Student) Registration
