In today’s competitive hospitality market, down time means lost revenue. Any type of renovation can be disruptive and off-putting for staff and guests alike. Through innovative tile-over-tile installations, renovations can be a much smoother process, and the venue does not have to lose precious time with demolition of previously installed surfaces. When specifying materials for hospitality renovation projects, turn to Crossville for innovative porcelain tile panels.
Crossville’s Laminam porcelain tile panels are huge—a 1x3 meter panel can cover more than 30 square feet—resulting in a seamless look with fewer grout lines. But it’s the thickness, measured in mere millimeters, that gives these tiles the unique ability to be laid over existing tile or brick surfaces. This trait offers a big advantage for renovation projects as it eliminates the need for demolition and removal of the old material, reduces the labor involved, contains cost, and minimizes construction waste. Another plus is that it gives hospitality venues the ability to stay in business with little to no downtime.
Crossville’s porcelain tile panels are excellent for hospitality projects with tight timelines and budgets that demand exceptional style and sustainability. They’re measured in feet, not inches, yet are only 3+mm (for walls) or 5mm (for floors and walls) in thickness.
The lobby of this Myrtle Beach hotel was transformed quickly—and beautifully—thanks to the tile-over-tile installation capability of Crossville’s porcelain panels. With no need to demo the previously installed tile, the project was completed with minimal downtime for the property’s operations.

The large outer dimensions and lean profiles allow the panels to install tile-over-tile. That means there’s no need to demo! Skilled installers can quickly transform expansive surface areas with minimal disruption to property operations—and without old tile going to the landfill.
Inside or out of hotel elevators, Crossville’s lean profile panels are a stylishly nimble surfacing solution.

The durable pure porcelain body withstands impacts from luggage and janitorial carts, suitcases, and throngs of guests, all the while looking as beautiful as the first day of installation.

By specifying Crossville’s porcelain panels for the exterior entry, the entire project team achieved the most efficient installation process possible. The tile panels were installed directly over the existing brick surface, eliminating the need for demolition and removal of the old material and minimizing construction waste. Crossville’s tile panels changed the entire aesthetic of the entry area without adding any thickness to the walls.
For the interior portion of the project, the architectural team decided the lobby needed to be completely gutted and redesigned. To tie the exterior and interior spaces together, they chose the same Crossville porcelain tile panels for the walls and incorporated LED strip lights from the exterior into the lobby.
