Start the new year as a citizen scientist and photograph the flooding impacts in our communities. The king tides will be as high as 9 feet in some locations on January 1 and 2. King tides are higher than normal high tides that occur naturally when the sun and moon align, causing an increased gravitational pull on the Earth's oceans.

Get your camera ready, go to the coast or bay, and snap away! Your photos will help identify current flooding and erosion impacts, including impacts to our roads, parks, neighborhoods, and other critical water and electrical infrastructure in our communities. Together we can plan ahead and prepare for sea level rise. Visit Sea Change San Mateo County's  website for more information! Winners will receive a climate change themed mug and be featured on the Sea Change SMC website, social media & newsletter!
