It was wonderful to reconnect with colleagues and friends from near and far at the Canadian Golf Course Management Conference in Niagara Falls this February.

This year’s conference was a joint venture between the CGSA and the OGSA—and what a great event it was! I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the team members of both associations for their hard work and to congratulate them on hosting a very successful conference.

The CGSA hosted the Canadian Golf Course Management Conference in Niagara Falls this past February, the event was a successful collaboration with the OGSA. The attendanace was large and Manitoba was well represented with numerous attendees.



Following the CGSA conference the Manitoba Golf and Turf Conference was held in early March in Winnipeg. This year’s speaker lineup featured Adam Moeller, Jason Pick, Dr. Sara Stricker, and representatives from government to speak about pesticide regulations. Attendance was high again this year with around 80 attendees.

CGSA 2nd Annual Summer Shamble June 24 will be hosted at The Okanagan Golf Club in Kelowna, BC with Superintendent Gary Stadnek.

Come and enjoy some west coast hospitality starting with a Horse Race golf event on Monday and ending your time at the networking dinner on Tuesday.

Dustin How, AGS, CGSA Manitoba Director received the MGSA Superintendent of the Year award during their recent Golf & Turf Conference.

John Scott, AGS, CGSA Past President and board member recently received the QGSA Outstanding Service Award. "A living legend, a man that all his peers esteem to admire, devoted in everything he undertakes...."

Gregory Greer, AGS received the Roger Baccichet Award from the QGSA during their recent conference. A distinction highlighting his masterful work during the Presidents Cup last September.

Morgan Crieghton Turf and Rec's Leading Women in Turf. Morgan says, "If you don't have a strong leadership group, you're not going to have a strong team below you."

Tammy Bougard, Assistant Superintendent at Quebec's Club Laval-sur-le-Lac honoured as Turf and Rec's Leading Women in Turf. Tammy says, "They've made something really good with all of their women-in-turf programs they've started..."

Bob Brewster proudly wears his 50 year membership pin. Bob says he always enjoyed being a member of CGSA and especially his seven years on the Board of Directors. He sends all the best in 2025.

As part of the ongoing effort to recognize the role of the superintendent at the golf facility, the CGSA sponsors the National Tournament Program for members that host these prestigious events. Our members are an essential part of the team that ensures that the golf course provides fair and consistent conditions for competition.

The CGSA/ENVU Superintendent of the Year Award is one of CGSA’s most prestigious awards. The title is awarded to a superintendent who has been nominated by either a Provincial Golf Superintendent Association or by a CGSA member as a knowledgeable and competent member of the profession who has been distinguished in the practice of golf course management. The winner of this award is chosen by an anonymous committee of peers. 

The successful nominee will attend the Fall Field Day in Quebec at Le Club Laval-sur-le-lac, Laval-sur-le-lac October 6-7, 2025, and they will also be recognized at CGSA's 60^th  The Canadian Golf Course Management Conference (CGCMC) during the Award Luncheon in February 2026 in Calgary, Alberta.
