Atlantic Report

Spring has finally given way to summer here in Atlantic Canada. The spring weather was very inconsistent and made managing the turf a challenge. It seems as if in Atlantic Canada that our traditional Spring diseases are bleeding into summer and our summer diseases are expanding into spring. This has supers reorganizing their spray schedules.

Clubs are all in full swing here now and the high volume of play is continuing. I know here at Chester we are as busy as ever. Even the weather doesn’t seem to slow them down.

Manitoba Report

Another heat wave is upon Manitoba with temperatures above 30 degrees. The season has been a real test of irrigation systems thus far contrasted from last years’ very wet May and June. Overall golf courses are in good condition throughout the province. May and June provided some challenges in areas due to wildfire activity and closures but all areas of the province are once again open.

On July 8th the MGSA is hosting the John B. Steel tournament at Oakwood Golf Course in Ste. Anne, Manitoba with host Superintendent Steve McMaster. This promises to be a great day with 4 winners crowned champions and provided $1000 to attend the CGSA Fall Field Day at Club sur le Lac in Laval, Quebec to represent Manitoba.

Fall Field Day 2025

Consider Sponsoring a Tee Sign

Consider sponsoring a tee sign at the Fall Field Day and have recognition on one or more holes, on all event signage and in GreenMatter. Consider having a staff member on the hole to greet the golfers. Sponsorship does not include golf but you can register 2 people to golf at the member rate. Note: Registration is reserved for sponsors and golf course members until August 15. We are setting up a waitlist for those who still want to attend without sponsorship.
