It is an honour to be writing this report as President of the Atlantic Golf Superintendents Association. So many dedicated people have come before me and have given so much to our Atlantic association.
This spring has started dry somewhat like last spring. However, we have just had some rain with some more in the forecast. I’m sure we are all hoping for not such a dry May and obviously a drier summer. It sounds like most of the turf has come through the winter in great shape. This always makes for a much easier start to the season. I’m sure like myself many of you are finishing up fall projects before things get too busy. I’m sure we weren’t the only ones doing drainage last fall!

Well, where the heck did the last two months go?!?! As much as I would love to get away from the peaks and valleys of up and down time throughout the season, there is no denying that we are in a seasonal business. While not the whole province, but certainly on the coast where I am, there is no technical end to the golf season. Perhaps this feeds my desire for a more even keel workload year-round? As I crawl into bed each night lamenting to my wife about the long days & weeks over the past couple months, she is always quick to remind me that it’s always this way. The spring and fall are pretty much flat out, but it always settles down outside of those times. As with most things, I know she’s right. This too shall pass. |

CGSA Introduces New Club Membership |
CGSA is excited to announce the launch of a new membership option designed to provide savings for those clubs who have multiple staff members at one facility.
The Club Membership option is offered at $1,175 and includes a minimum of three (3) Members from the same Club, anchored with one Superintendent member and then include either two Assistants or one Assistant and one Equipment Technician or any combination of those two categories. This is designed to provide savings for courses with three or more staff. By signing up you will save a minimum of $49 on the three memberships. Save even more by adding additional staff at $125 each. You will be providing your staff with access to all benefits of a CGSA member except voting rights.

National Golf Day 2024
CGSA President John McLinden, AGS and Kathryn Wood, CEO recently celebrated National Golf Day in Ottawa joined by the National Allied Golf Associations (NAGA) executive.They spent the day discussing the numerous benefits golf provides for individual health, communities and economic contributions. NAGA released the results of the Golf Economic Impact Study highlighting golf's financial contributions and incredible popularity as the number one participation sport in Canada. CGSA is pleased to announce that on-demand learning opportunities are now available for continuing education credits through its Live Learning Centre. Sessions from the 2024 Canadian Golf Course Management Conference approved for CECS are available through the centre. Conference delegates will have received complimentary login details.
