As March begins in Winnipeg the weather seems to be turning warmer following a fairly mild winter. Superintendents are waiting to see what winter results will look like following the rainfall that occurred in the Winnipeg area in November. Fingers are crossed that the worst of the potential winter injury will be avoided.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our friend and former colleague Barbara Elizabeth (Thomas) Yorke, 67, of Fall River, NS, who passed away Sunday, February 23, 2020 at the Halifax Infirmary. Barb was born in Halifax; she was the daughter of Helen Marie (Keddy) and Gordon James Thomas. She is survived by her husband, Hugh; daughter, Briane (Dave); son, Stephen (Kristy) and grandson, Hugo; and siblings, David (Gerry), Donald, Jerry, and Susan Thomas. Read more about Barb.

Women in Turfgrass Management

Over the past few months CGSA member Morgan Creighton has been working in conjunction with the @GolfSupers, @GuelphTurf and @ OldsCollege to create the ‘Women in Turf Mentor Program’. The idea is to help young female students enrolled in a post-secondary institution with an established female mentor.
