Ontario Report
The golf season does not want to end, particularly in Southern Ontario. A long stretch of near record temperatures in November has extended an already long season in the province. 

This extraordinary fall has only added to the record number of rounds played at golf courses. Some course or clubs are reporting as much as a 40 percent increase in play compared to last season.

$18.2B Generated Through Golf Activity in Canada
The Canadian golf industry generated $18.2B in economic benefits across our nation in 2019, according to a recent economic analysis conducted by Group ATN Consulting Inc. on behalf of the National Allied Golf Associations (We Are Golf).

According to The Economic Impact of Golf in Canada (2019), the Canadian golf industry employs the equivalent of nearly 249,000 people through direct and spin-off effects and contributed to $10.6B in household income. The industry also contributed $4.5B in government tax revenue ($1.8B federal and $2.1B provincial) used to support a variety of programs for all Canadians.

Toro Renews Multi-Year Platinum Plus Partnership
The Canadian Golf Superintendents Association (CGSA) and The Toro Company are pleased to announce their renewed three-year partnership as a Platinum Plus sponsor, which includes the exclusive sponsorship of the CGSA/Toro Assistant Superintendent of the Year Award, and the Gordon Witteveen Award. Congratulations to Doug Meyer, MS, AGS
After 51 years in the golf business, Doug Meyer, MS, AGS, retires from the Beaconsfield Golf Course. Doug has been a CGSA member since 1975. He served on the CGSA Board of Directors from 1990 - 1999, serving as President in 1998. Doug was awarded the CGSA Superintendent of the Year in 2004. He has held the Master Superintendent designation since 2006 and was a frequent participant at The Canadian Golf Course Management Conferences and the CGSA Fall Field Days even capturing the top prize several years.

CGSA thanks Doug for his many years of support and involvement in the CGSA and extends best wishes to he and his wife Lynn for a relaxing and enjoyable retirement!

Congratulations to Michael Dermott
Congratulations to Michael Dermott (center) for 43 plus years at Oakdale Golf and Country Club, the last 18 as property manager. He has been a CGSA member for 34 years and has attended many CGSA events over the years. He will be missed. We wish Michael the best in his retirement years! "An outstanding Superintendent and industry leader in the Greater Toronto Area," say colleagues.
