Principal's Message

Our students continued to work hard this week completing Illinois Assessment of Readiness sections in literacy and math. We'll continue testing next week and plan to finish by May 12th. Thank you to our RLA families for bringing their children to school to complete these assessments. It was great to see many of them in person this week!

Planning for next year is in full swing, and we will welcome our kindergarten class of 2021-22 for kindergarten screening on May 21st. We will also begin articulation meetings between Young Explorers and our kindergarten team. Similarly, fifth-grade teachers will be participating in articulation meetings with NBJH staff next week to discuss the transition process for fifth-grade students.

Our awesome PTO will be recognizing our fantastic staff during Teacher Appreciation Week next week with breakfasts, lunches and daily treats. We encourage you to reach out and let your child's teachers know that they are appreciated--especially in a year where we've asked so much of our staff.

Enjoy the warm weekend weather!

Next Week is Teacher Appreciation Week
Our fantastic PTO committee has been working hard to plan ways to appreciate our teachers next week. They have coordinated with the ABC Countdown for some special activities and spirit days next week. Check out the reminder for each day here. Thanks in advance for making our teachers feel appreciated!

District 28: First “Getting Ready Camp”
District 28 will be holding it's first “Getting Ready Camp'' for students who have received additional math and/or literacy support in the classroom this year and may benefit from some additional summer support to get ready for the new school year. This program will be for students who are currently in elementary grades. Parents of students who are identified to participate in this program will be contacted via email in the coming weeks with additional details.

2021 ABC Countdown *repeat*
It's a Greenbriar tradition to count down the last 26 days of school with the ABC Countdown, a list of special events/activities for each day corresponding to the letters of the alphabet. This year, we've made a unique countdown that all our Greyhounds can participate in whether they are in-person or RLA. In-person students will bring home a hard copy of the calendar but parents can access it here as well. Participation is always optional!
Greenbriar & RLA Virtual Art Show
