South Greene Street intersection to close for BUILD Project construction

GREENVILLE, N.C. — Construction related to the BUILD Project is scheduled to close an intersection in the downtown area beginning next week.

The intersection of West Fifth Street and South Greene Street is scheduled to close to motorists on Monday, January 6, 2025. The closure is expected to be in place for approximately three months to allow for improvements including wider sidewalks, brick crosswalks, site furnishings, and street trees.

Motorists attempting to travel north on Greene Street will be detoured onto Evans Street, West Fifth Street, South Washington Street, and West Fourth Street, as pictured above.

This construction is part of the $48.5-million Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) Project that began in August 2023. For more information about the BUILD Project, including an updated project timeline and detour routes, visit buildprojects.greenvillenc.gov.
