The Ram Report: highlights for the week ahead
  • We met our Annual Fund donation challenges and collected over $110,000 before the midpoint of our drive!  Thank you!
  • The charitable season is beginning and we have an upcoming food drive, toy drive, and service event. If you are (or know of) a member of our community that could benefit from the generosity of these collections (toys, clothing, food, thanksgiving turkey, etc.), please speak to your child's teacher or Mr. Lazar.   Our community is our priority and all requests will be handled with the utmost care and confidentiality.

  • Don't miss the Winter Hat Sale on Friday!
Have a great week!
Greenfield Announcements
Letter from HSA President Kristin McKenna

We did it, Greenfield!  You exceeded our expectations and we met our donation challenges each and every time.  We have currently collected over $110,000 (including all matching and challenge donations) and we haven't even reached Day 50 of the Annual Fund.  Thank you for your extreme generosity and your support for our operating budget.  It truly is amazing.

October was a busy and fun month.  We packed the Cambridge for Family Dinner Night and shared personal stories at the GLAMS evening, despite heavy winds and rains.  We bowled and played ping pong in the Trophy Room on DOGS night.  And who could forget the fun (and slight chaos) of our epic Halloween Party!

November is for thanks and giving.  HSA and Student Voice have planned many opportunities for our community to give externally this month.  We don't expect everyone to participate in all of them (although that would be great), but we hope one or two of the collections benefit a group or organization to which you feel a connection.  This week, we will be collecting candy in association with Operation Gratitude to benefit troops, veterans and first responders.  Student Voice will also begin the World of Change campaign.   World of Change is a nonprofit, charitable organization that helps schools to organize philanthropic coin collection drives across the country.  Last year, Greenfield raised the 2nd highest total of any school that has participated in World of Change.

We are planning a Friendsgiving on the evening of November 15 at which we will gather together to assemble Welcome Kits to benefit survivors of domestic violence and their children through Women Against Abuse.  Please consider contributing an item for the Welcome Kit and/or joining us to separate and sort the items collected.

Leading up to Thanksgiving, Student Voice will hold our third annual canned food drive to benefit Philabundance.  Last year, we were one of the most successful/productive school-based collections in the city.  We are setting a goal of 1,000 pounds this year.

We will wrap up the month with a toy drive to benefit Holton's Heroes.  This organization accepts new, unwrapped toys for hospitalized children and other deserving families in our area.

It's a busy month.  And hopefully we have identified at least one group/organization to which you are able to give in some way.  Additionally, if you are (or know of) a member of our community that could benefit from the generosity of these collections (toys, clothing, food, thanksgiving turkey, etc.), please speak to your child's teacher or Mr. Lazar.   Our community is our priority and all requests will be handled with the utmost care and confidentiality.

I wish you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving.  I know I have so many reasons to be thankful this year, being a part of this community is one of them.
Champions!

A Thanksgiving Message from Miles Table
and the Lynch Family

As you know the Lynch family and Miles Table just love being a part of the Greenfield community.  We would like to help reach our fundraising goal for the playground.

With that in mind we wanted to circulate this traditional Thanksgiving feast flyer to the entire school community. As you can see on the flyer we will donate 10% of each Thanksgiving feast ordered from our restaurant Miles Table, back to Greenfield Elementary to be used for the Playground.

Parents can also share the flyer with their friends and family because Miles Table will donate 10% from all orders placed.

Thanks so much for all you do for this school. We know you love Greenfield just as much as we do!

"Friendsgiving" Event for Women Against Abuse
Friday, November 15th
6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Are you interested in doing community service side-by-side with your children?  Well here is the perfect opportunity.  We have organized a Greenfield service event on Friday, November 15, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. that supports Women Against Abuse, a Philadelphia-based organization that provides life-saving services to survivors of domestic violence and their children.  We are creating Welcome Kits that will be used by survivors and their families as they transition to their new apartments.  Our goal is to create 20 Welcome Kits for families.

How can my child and I help?  Glad you asked!  Please click on this sign-up genius link and sign up to (1) attend the event on November 15 at Greenfield, (2) purchase items for the Welcome Kits (approximate price ranges are included with each item - we need 20 of each item- consider teaming up with other families to purchase the more expensive items), and/or (3) donate money to this event and we will purchase the items needed for the Welcome Kits.  You can drop off your items in the boxes in the school lobby starting on October 28, or bring them to the school on the evening of November 15, when we will be compiling the Welcome Kits.  After we compile the Welcome Kits, we will be serving pizza and hot chocolate and invite families to stay and socialize for a bit after the work is done.

Please contact Liz Dunleavy ([email protected]) or Leslie Greenspan ([email protected]) with any questions about this event.  We look forward to your participation and support!
